man players nowadays are babysat too much. I know its business and money but...nothing is too scary about pitchers hitting. the good hitting pitchers take pride in their ability.

Agree 100% with you. It's a joke how pitchers pitch once every 5 days and are put on pitch counts. There should be no reason your starter shouldn't be able to go at least 6 innings a game.

Because it's barely even a risk. It's not double the risk. It's muuuuch less than that. Go tell me how many pitchers have been hurt while hitting.

It's not because of risk but because they're a liability. They ruin the flow and continuity of the offense. And I don't understand how you can be appalled at a player who purely hits. There's some players who just aren't competent enough to play at an everyday position in The MLB, but can knock the seams off a baseball. No one payed Manny because he plays a mean left field.

Show me proof baseball is dying. 'Cause all I see is attendance going up, exciting pennant races and the fact that the single most exciting day of baseball happened last year.

you hear it all the time, it's the next generation, kids dont seem to give a fukk about baseball anymore

If basketball isn't dying, then how the fukk is baseball going to die when the latter is more profitable and popular than the former? Baseball is an American tradition.

Because they're not a complete player to me. You hit, you field. That's how it was until what, 1970? The DH is something they made up because the AL couldn't hit as well as the NL, and they wanted to prolong the careers of popular players who couldn't ... well, play anymore.

I don't understand how people can NOT be appalled at a player who can only hit and not do his job on defense.

Maybe I can use the DH argument to get Steve Nash to take Dwight Howard's free-throws this year though. Why should D12 have to be able to be competent at all part of his game? :win:

And the fukk is a pitcher a complete player? He doesn't play everyday, he can't hit and field like his peers.

When has a pitcher ever pitched every day? :rudy:
Plus no other player has as much control in a game as the pitcher. Especially one who hits. And pitchers DO field, otherwise those gold gloves they get are just irrelevant huh?

Although AL pitchers might not be as good of fielders, since they field bunts a looot less.

I clearly said they can't hit or field as good as their peers. When pitchers are forced to be as well rounded as other positional everyday players, I won't have problem. That's not going to happen when you have pitchers getting paid $20M to specifically throw from mound. Like I said, pitching in the majors is a specialized position in my humble opinion. There's no reason why a team has to suffer offensively because of it.
