I'm not in that crowd. I accept mixed people who identify as Black as Black--as does 90% of American Blacks in the real world. I was just puzzled by a mixed Black person claiming they have to prove themselves to US Blacks, your examples (minus Malcolm, his mom was mixed) prove we don't give a crap about that in general. UK is another story as @Speaking Womanese points out
Thandie isn’t being honest about why she feels different.
She’s mixed and identifies as black because white people reminded her she wasn’t white. She treats blackness like an old coat she was forced to wear everyday and we can see through her shyt.
A woman comfortable with her blackness doesn’t need a co-sign from nobody.
Malcolm would be classed as Black-Brit but the average black man wouldn’t see him as black because he was light.
As contradictory as it sounds, black men form like Power Rangers to protect their image and won’t co-sign a light-skinned man unless he’s from their block or they’re profiting off of him. They’re a funny bunch.
