Ain't nobody thinking bout no thandie newton.I honestly never heard this side of her. I know she mentioned once it was easier to get roles as a BW in the USA than UK.
Not sure who didn't accept her. US Blacks are pretty about mixed Black people and typically don't separate them. Maybe some bitter chicks or something.
She a future cac
So she gonna be viewed diff
And have a diff experience
because it does our society is patriarchal
malcolm x is not biracial
People need to understand how race is a social construct because in different countries, Thandie would be put in different categories.
In America, she’d be seen as black if you still subscribe to the one drop rule.
In Britain she’s mixed race.
In South Africa she would be a “coloured”.
In Brazil she would be “Pardos”.
I think this is a Brazilian isolated issue. In African countries half-cacs are not treated differently nor is there any prevalent colorism going on. They are just classified as their own and recognised for what they are, but not given some sort of preferential treatment.Yeah I lived in Brazil and saw this first hand. That's actually one of the big reasons why I am so hesitant about pushing off mixed people in their own category as opposed to what we have traditionally done in the US and lumped them with Blacks. I mean, the racial dynamics and colorism in Latin America and even most of the Caribbean are
A good book about this, by an AA living in Brazil is "Coal to Cream". He talks about how on the outside Brazil's racial system looks appealing but when you deal with the dysfunctional ass dynamics and self-hatred it engenders, it isn't something I want here.
Crazy stuff like chicks looking like Sanaa Lathan trying to call themselves "branca" (white) to be upwardly mobile. Or my lightskinned (not mixed) AA friend down there who kept getting the question "why do you want to be Black?" , not from Whites but Blacks and Pardos wondering why he would choose a "downgraded" identity.
Part of the reason Afro-Brazilians have a hard time fighting is they can't unite over shyt when half of them think they can get more scraps from table by screaming "eu não sou negro!"
so what you are saying is c00ns arent black. Well if that was the case there could be no such thing as a c00n as they arent black. Are you a natural born idiot or a disingenuous troll? If it's the former I feel sorry for you, if it's the latter I have no respect for you. The average black man isn't even thinking about Thandie at all. Like @Speaking Womanese pointed out this is about a woman who sees the black inside her as a manifestation of the curse of ham, resents that the fact that she's half black means she can't fully assimilate into the white race, and is now trying to ride two horses with one ass by affixing herself to whiteness by having kids with a white man and playing the white man's love interest in most of her movies, despite being sexually assaulted by white men in her teens, while also projecting her inner anguish and resentment onto the black community by trying to guilt trip us, who have nothing to do with, and should not be held responsible for, her personal struggle in accepting who she is. If she were a biracial man acting in similar fashion we would clown him just as hard. You're trying to pivot this thread into gender strife and I'm not for it. You save that bellhook babble for your mother, she's the only one who gives a fukk to hear it.
Literally just about to post this. They never seem to openly question why white people don't accept them when they’re half white... but of course, Black people are the “true racists”.
I love thandy she's a hottie
