This is what happens when you put insane cultists in office…

On top of Texas being one of the worst states for abortion, it's also one of the worst states for voting rights/access.

Even where I'm at in HTX which is blue, we have the state gov't openly interfering with our elections.

We have a big chance coming up to get Ted Cruz the fukk out of here in 2024. But the Texas dems gonna have to do better. Republicans will fight to the death to prevent Texas from going blue.

I just read about this story earlier and pulled the "wtf" face. How can anyone argue against this is bizarre. The health of the woman should be the #1 priority in all of this. She should sue them if something happens to her, this is f'ked up.

Nothing to her. She's allowed to leave the state and do it.

The Texas gov't will probably take this as a W. It'll discourage further challenges. It'll also force women who can't leave the state to go through with the pregnancy.
It’s 2023. How can someone not leave a state?

I wouldn't be surprised if the child dies they press charges and arrest her like they did ole girl in Ohio.

Well if you live in a state as big as Texas you may have to fly out of the state.

If you have to have a consultation before the actual procedure that'll be 2 flights (2 there and 2 back). Tack on a hotel stay which will probably require having to pay for 4 nights (you know how hotel check-ins and checkouts work) and the tab runs up pretty fast.

Combine that with the fact that half of Americans can't pay $1000 for an emergency

And you'll quickly see that just going out of state isn't really a viable option.

Not everyone can afford to go out of state to get an abortion. Some don't have transportation.
Being poor didn't end in 2022.

Thank you.

Cox’s lawyers noted in a statement that many women in Texas do not have the financial means to quickly leave the state. All but one of Texas’ neighboring states have banned the procedure, and Texans are flooding clinics in New Mexico, Colorado and Kansas, leading to delays in care. In October, the Texas Tribune documented the story of a woman who could not afford to leave the state for an abortion, and carried a non-viable pregnancy to term.
