rode in and drove a BYD a few times overseas. Smooth ride and a better experience than when I rented a Tesla. But I'm sure the EV makers here don't want to introduce a Chinese competitor into the market

See, I'm unfamiliar with all these youtubers.
I'm just going by what I see for BYD in general and what other engineers have had to say about their tech and builds though.
Someone said they out-Toyota'd Toyota, but for EV's, which is spectacular. We actually have a product that underpromised and overdelivered on an actual real-world disruption. Additionally, I heard BYD has their own ships/transport. They've really done their homework that an engineer would respect.
