This, so far, does not seem to be because of the Tesla vehicle.

Tesla or any other self-driving car will have accidents, but in the future once the software is gone through years of stress testing it will save lives and plummet the number of car accidents happening yearly.

However with this incident, there's nothing that indicates it's the cars fault.
