TYRONE GA!
Still baffles me how Willie Simmons has not gotten a Power 5 opportunity yet. I know Prime has been advocating for him but to no avail. He's a hell of a coach and leader.

These white boosters that pay these coaches don't wanna cut the check for us.

There will never be another Deion, but there's lot of brothas who can do similar IMO but don't get the chance. And even when we do get the chance, we get a very short leash.

So that's what going on? :ohhh:

Bruh TnSU one of the most popular & prestigious HBCUs. Ton of history and tradition, one of the best bands every year but they play 2 or 3 other HBCUs max a year.

Their biggest game was always the Southern Heritage Classic against Jackson in Memphis every year but they fukked that up trying to shortchange JSU, so they ended the contract & now they play UAPB in that game. Attendance probably wasn’t even half of what it was when they played JSU

Some guys are just HBCU lifers like Buddy Pugh at SCSU or Pete Richardson from SU. Maybe Simmons is just happy there

If I'm not mistaken he has expressed interest in bigger jobs. And trust, he wouldn't turn down them M's he'd get to coach a power 5.

@staticshock Yeah found this and he expressed interest in the South Florida job.

"I'm always going to be where my feet are," Simmons said. "And right now, they're right here FAMU's campus to prepare these guys for competition.

"I have an agent for all that type of stuff and haven't heard any rumblings or gotten any contact from (USF). Whenever the opportunity presents itself, we'll address it then.

when i posted this in cfb thread i said going at the fans might not be the best idea.
idk if this another game or the same game from OP he's talking about but continuing to challenge your fans can have negative results

So you telling me that Primette support wasn't about black/HBCU culture but it was Prime itself?

Like @DropTopDoc @Lucky_Lefty and myself been saying from the getgo.
I was going back and forth with some dumb ass nikkas on FB about this story. Further proved to me that nikkas only love hype and don’t follow thru on what they try to shame other Black folks to do. One mf honestly said “TSU need to schedule all home games against P5 schools.” Another said “they need to stop playing games at an NFL stadium,” completely ignoring the Titans pay TSU to utilize their facilities and that stadium is only a 10 min ride from campus. Not like it’s driving from Coral Gables to Miami Gardens (no shots). Mf’s just attracted to clicks and not substance.

At some point, if the community is serious, we're gonna have to have the conversation about how alumni (and other Black companies and organizations) don't financially support HBCUs, but then arrogantly criticize coaches when they move on from there due to lack of resources... and then play the "you owed the community more/better than that" card.

...but nah, the community don't wanna be introspective and self-accountable in a raw convo like that yet. :patrice::sas2:
Agreed…but those schools get the bottom of the barrel support from the very states they’re in. Doesn’t the state of Tennessee owe TSU like half a billion in tax payer funded dollars? Look at how Jindal’s policies were designed to break HBCUs in Louisiana. Same thing with Tate and his predecessor in Mississippi.

Deion used to be begging the fans to come in the game and not just hang in the parking lot. But ya'll telling me black folks absolutely love college football? :patrice:

Hbcu attendance is a separate thing from pwi, and yes it be us at a lot of pwi games, i stay posting in the thread Dirtbag alerts when it’s some talent at the game :mjlit:

So what college games black folks going to? In comparison to NBA and NFL games? Other than the U, I don't be seeing no nikkas in no crowds.

See above answer

Another thing people need to come to the realization of is that college football is not that big in the black community. We love the NBA and NFL though and will spend money to attend games. College football is usually some shyt that we'll watch casually but not passionately.

Ehh that’s not true in the south

60-70k gonna be at the Magic City Classic tomorrow

Breh I grew up in orangeburg and went to every home SC State game and plenty of away games from like 9 to 17 years old. I then went to a PWI and worked with the football program and attended over 50 pwi games, home and away. Black folks ain't avid college football fans like that breh. Well from what I've seen. :manny:
