Really? To me 2011 and 2018 is two completely different worlds.

From the sound to the way music is consumed to the fashion
Not denying it could be an age thing. Perception of things differ when you're older as oppose to as a kid.

But it definitely feels like the music has been more or less in the same realm for the last 7 years. Like I said differences for sure, but not the differences I noticed back then.

Facts. Like you can definitely pull some songs from albums from 2010-11 and put them on an album in 2018 and people wouldn't know the difference

Put a song from 87-88 on a 1995-1996 album and it would sound so out of place.

He doesn't come off as a square suburban kid ....he sounds like he's from texas so im guessing his pops probably bumps hip bop but old scarface and bun b shyt...so wasn't exposed to the east coast shyt....so can't be mad at that salute to him tho
Nah I watched his reaction to Smile and he said he never heard of Scarface before. He really liked it though, the prayer by Face at the end had lil homie like :wowtwo: :wow:

Seems like he wasn't exposed to any classic hip hop

Production is completely different now. That trap sound has evolved and reinvented itself a couple times now since then. I don't think you can compare Lex Luger sound to Metro or the more colorful trap cloud hybrid beats producers like Pierre is making. The music sound different a lot more melody driven now, you got all these "mumble rappers" now. K-Dot and Drake was on some lyrical shyt in 2011 now they making songs with mumble rap influences like God's Plan and Humble. You got rappers with alternative rock influences putting that into the music, a lot of rappers came through that changed the game up since 2011 the Keefs the Migos. People digest music differently now, you got steaming, you got SoundCloud, back then nikkas was on blogs heavy somewhat still now everything is social media. The fashion is way different. This shyt way different to me. The shyt young nikkas is listening to now sound completely different than what was popping in 2011.

It might be an age thing. :hubie:

Drake, Cole, Wale, Curren$y, Wiz, Meek, Ross, Ye, Jay, Nicki, etc etc. Main difference is the trap production evolved. And the Drill scene helped that alot.

I subscribed to his channel a few weeks ago. It's dope seeing folks around my age educating themselves on the old school. :salute:

Sidenote:

I wish i could erase my memory and listen to "stab your brain with your nose bone" for the first time again :banderas:

again this is dope but it's one thing to listen to it for the first time now but another to have been there in the climate and environment when it dropped....like being immersed in the culture with the fashion, the language and with all the other heat dropping like every damn tuesday
Facts! I'll never forget when I first heard that track. :wow: RIP P
