Meta’s laid-off ‘low performers’ defend themselves on LinkedIn and Reddit

Curry’s experience lines up with a new report from Business Insider, claiming Meta’s director of people experience allowed managers to add employees from higher-performance tiers to those marked for layoffs if they couldn’t reach their reduction goals just from lower-rated employees. A spokesperson for Meta tells Fast Company that these were “performance-based terminations,” adding, “Prior ratings were not downgraded. Simply because someone had a history of meeting or exceeding expectations does not mean they continue to consistently meet the bar.”

I just hope the public sector survives because that's getting dangerously close to yah boy and his field of work.

I really DON'T want to have to hit the ground running if the place I work at gets hit with funding/budget cuts because of Elon's fukkery.
Gotta make sure your affairs are right and I’d keep looking out for gigs. The public sector don’t look to good right now.

The fact that there are still people on there telling her to take that trip to NZ when she has a $2500 mortgage, and shutting down anyone telling her otherwise because it’s “scarcity mentality” :mjlol:
I think she should take the trip. Shyt is a no brainer. She has the time.

Trips have helped me reset and seek the guidance I needed to move forward.

I remember when I came back from Colombia in 2021, I knew exactly what I wanted out of life at the time and where I wanted to go in my career afterwards.

Gov employees are not competitive what so ever when it comes to private sector tech

I don't think all 40,000 or even half that # is gettin' ready to spillover into the private sector obv but there is the chance for a very small percentage to potentially at least throw some fillers out there muddying the waters for what is already sum bullshyt to trek through. But yeah, most of them will prolly tried to stay tied to the Fed shyt whether via govt contracting or sum shyt.

Working at Meta sounds like dating a woman. You did everything we want but we just had to get rid of you just because we said we would. :mjlol:

gov work is super behind/lacks innovative due to all the red tape. Even the "Govt teams" in private sector companies are behind and reflect this. Folks with Security Clearances can maybe get into private sector jobs that will be the Govt Contractors that spring up to fill the gap as the Govt looks to get these people off the books but thats best case scenario. Pre Trump most people would publicly acknowledge Govt Jobs were people went to Rest and Vest until retirement. I`m not for folks losing jobs but we all know the govt is bloated as shyt, but this is the negative with coasting in a role that you become uncompetitive. This is the one thing with tech that can be annoying lol you can't chill until you maybe 5 yrs away from retirement.

I initially planned on waiting this year out, doubling up my classes for grad school and then looking for a new job
but once the year started with the fukkery on 10, I started looking for a new job.

:wow:
Already got one interview lined up today.

Bruh, it's like 2018/2019/2020 were a fever dream.
When the money was flowing and opportunity was abundant, I was watching people
jump from job to job, left and right, rapidly increasing their salary.
I kinda sorta caught that wave but I didn't have the papers yet.
:pachaha:
Now I'm ready and the entire job market looks different.

People really didn't realize they were :eat: with them low interest rates, jobs posts flowing like crazy and houses that hadn't
doubled in price yet.
