You a fool if you stay at this company.

Experienced data center workers caught in Meta layoffs

On the data center side, employees affected include those at relatively high levels of seniority, some of whom have worked at the company for more than a decade.

"Today marks the end of an era for me," one former mechanical subject matter expert at Meta's Prineville, Oregon, data center said on LinkedIn, who had worked for the company for more than 14 years.

"Laid off from Meta today," the onsite design lead for Meta's upcoming $10 billion, four million sq ft, 2GW Louisiana data center campus said.

The company is currently hiring for other data center roles, as well as increasing the number of machine learning engineers.

People in upper management are so thin skinned and petty. They short circuit whenever any rank and file worker shows no fear.

I've pissed off so many before walking out the door.

JPMorgan employee who questioned Jamie Dimon’s RTO mandate says he was fired—then told he could stay—after testy town hall

Following the conclusion of the 45-minute town hall, Welch (pictured above) says he was greeted with high-fives and “thank yous” from coworkers. But his day soon took an ominous turn, when he received a text from Garrett Monaghan, a Vice President – Branch HelpDesk. “I don’t know what the fukk you just did, but come to my desk immediately when that town hall ends. Please,” according to a message that was viewed by Fortune.

When Welch got to the meeting with Monaghan, he says he found the VP standing in a small conference room, along with another executive, Jeffrey Todd Merrill, Vice President – Global Dedicated IT Support, who was seated. (Merrill was Welch's boss from 2018 to 2021 but is no longer.) Welch says that Monaghan told him he had “just dragged our whole organization through the mud. Go and clean off your desk and get the fukk out of here,” Welch recalls.

Just grateful I am still employed, been applying since December , I aint getting shyt but a screening :mjcry: we just hired two new guys to our team, infosec managers with 10 month gaps on resume :mjcry:. It's brutal out there. With that said, I am only applying for remote roles so that can be a huge reason why I am fukked.
Applying to 100% remote roles is like applying to the Ivy League, only about 4-5% getting them jobs…waaay too many applicants applying (most aren’t qualified for the role, but the noise makes it harder for qualified applicants to get seen)

Shangri-La
I know Meta was supposed to be building a huge data center in New Orleans. There is no telling how much money they wasted on the Metaverse. So that's probably why they want to slash headcount to the bone.

Laid-off Meta employees blast Zuckerberg for running the ‘cruelest tech company out there’ as some claim they were blindsided after parental leave

MZ won’t admit it’s a colossal failure, they have ads featuring Tinashe, flop promoting a flop go figure

When he finally admits and ends it those layoffs will be a bloodbath

100% remote at this point is like a unicorn.

I'm cool with a lenient hybrid policy :hubie:
It can be done but you gotta find a company that doesn't have their shyt together. They don't pay close enough attention to badge swipes. Or you have a Manager located in another country or timezone. I've been told to return a minimum of 3 days a week at 3 different companies. But I still keep pushing my luck and refusing to comply. Once I finally get pushed into a corner I quit. And the process starts all over again.

I'm still 100% remote though I negotiated that before covid. I would say tech in healthcare might be the move for people wanting full remote but be warned, Healthcare comes with a completely different level of stress that may not be worth it for most.

I'm in healthcare more so medical devices tech. Started in July 2024, there's been 1 round of layoff and termination of a few contractors

We've been fortunate on our end to avoid any major layoffs but with that said, if you work in the field long enough, you start to understand why people avoid working tech in healthcare.

This bytch said she felt better when she found out 24 other people were laid off with her. :mjlol: You stupid bytch, you don't say that out loud. We all would think the same shyt but you don't say it. And she's so clueless she never realized her faux pas. She's young though so she'll get back on her feet eventually but she definitely needs a bit more self awareness.
