Such a shytty move, by putting it out there that this round of layoffs are poor performers, they’re making it harder for them to get jobs, which hurts even more with no severance and benefits. I really didn’t expect MSFT to roll like this, but this is what happens when companies are run by soulless impersonable Indians
I've cancelled interviews after finding out the interview team is all Indians. Not worth wasting my time because they only hire each other. And they do some unscrupulous shyt when the majority on a team. I make sure to CYA to the utmost degree when working with them.

Recruiting is a scam, I swear. And I say that as somebody's who's done a few contracts with crootin' agencies at this point and will most likely do another with how slow organizations move on their own internally.

Spamming you on LinkedIn, email, text, etc., only to ghost you at some point throughout the process.

Having you send over resume + credentials to verify everything about yourself while they are super cryptic about whatever position they're tryna sell u on until you agree that they can represent you.

Not providing updates or pushin' companies to provide updates, even if it's just a "we chose to go in another direction" after youve jumped thru multiple hoops, did 2-3 interviews etc.

Not budging on their # when they clearly just wanna take more off top for their portion.

It's a mess.

/Rant/Vent

I had 3 interviews in Dec & nothing came of em even tho mfs had me meeting the whole team & everything on 2nd and 3rd interviews.

Talkin' to another mf recruiter now, see how that go smh.

G'luck on that recent one.

Very difficult decision especially with all the economic uncertainty now. I chased the money a few years ago and happy with my decision.

I figured that I could still learn the latest technology on my own time. But where was I going to find 30K more per year? After looking at it like that the choice was clear. Take the money and run. But everyone's situation is different.
Makes sense. This AI shyt is going to take off though so I'm confirming Monday that I'm declining it.

Too much momentum with AI. I talk with SEs at NVIDIA daily and one of my directors keeps badgering me to register for their conference lol. I wait out another year or so

I'll fill you in on another reason why I'm rejecting this offer. It's because it's Snowflake and the former CEO Frank Slootman made a comment "diversity shouldn't replace merit" which had them promptly do damage control and get a DEI manager etc.

They aren't doing that anymore. The new CEO is Indian and funny enough last name is Ramaswamy :mjlol:

I just didn't get a good feeling about it even though they hiring manager was cool and my former white boy colleague poached me is a solid dude.

CEO retiring and dumping a ton of stock. And the company is replacing him with some Indian? Run don't walk away from this one.

I remember getting an offer from NetApp years ago but turned it down. They've tanked since then and I'm glad I didn't waste my time. After looking more closely at the Business side and the leadership team. I think their stock is still cratering.

Dell CEO says he’s ‘retiring’ hybrid work, claiming that email exchanges waste time: ‘For all the technology in the world, nothing is faster than the speed of human interaction’

Pretty sure I'm never going back into the office. :trash: :camby:

I would honestly do the same thing.

Philly born. PG raised
Got and accepted that offer I talked about a few pages back. Start in a couple weeks.

Should be a cool gig but I will plan to boomerang at a higher level in a year if it doesn’t work out like i want.

I was actually surprised, my current company tried to dive and save me but I told them no.

Once you mess with cloud / ai infrastructure it’s hard to go back to legacy systems
This is probably going to be the most important comment in this whole thread going forward. A lot of jobs are being made redundant right now because of internal AI tooling. A lot of these layoffs are basically "the tech can do the work now, we just need a human babysitter for verification and liability", so they start downsizing departments and teams. This will continue to be accelerated as other companies pick up on this as they'll be forced to incorporate their own AI tooling to compete.

One of the upsides to this is you're going to see a lot of smaller companies challenge the larger ones at a fraction of the size and it's mostly gonna be engineering and marketing/sales people because all the other roles will for the most part be mostly automated or you'll only need 2 accountants to do the job of an entire accounting department of your larger competitor because they're too large and too slow to retool.

Till then we'll continue this slow bleed mostly focused on non-engineering tech people. I'll put it this way. The jobs that require the least of amount of critical thinking will be at the front of the firing squad. Make of this what you will.

I think we're consistently over estimating the abilities of AI
and the fantastical posts always run counter to reality.

I think there will be a change and a shake up, then the "all jobs
replaced by AI" talk will subside and be seen as silly near the
end of this decade.

I build data centers. They are pretty much designed and built to run themselves. Great money for us though.
