Not gonna happen. Tech workers needed to organize decades ago. Tech jobs will go the way of US Manufacturing jobs to the lowest bidder.

I am even seen AT&T with jobs out in India smh. A six figure salary here can hire 8 fire wall engineers in India/Romania. Just keep an American during the day shift so clients don't get pissed off hearing an Indian accent.

Cisco tac firewall support, I would always get an Indian or a Mexican...very cheap labor.

I know it won't happen. Tech workers as a bunch are incapable of that kind of mass action, a lot of "I got mine, fukk you" types

also Golden Handcuffs, tied to the lifestyles that come with the pay thus unable to shake things up at the risk of that lifestyle

I think people are more afraid of the consequences of taking a stand. So many people are being taken advantage of and feel like they have to take it or be out of a job.

I got a handful of contacts that work for them. They're trying to be sneaky, standing up an Indian office and moving a whole bunch of hiring out there. That way they can say they're reducing dependence on contact Naps and increasing the number is full time employees. On the outside that's cause for applause. But in reality they're getting like 5 Naps for the price of 1 developer, and call center quality work as well.

One of my neighbors is in tech, and told me he got fired last week. Said a PE firm acquired his company last year, and since then put him on a performance review plan, with basically constantly shifting standards. He had a whole team under him. He finally said just let me go.

He said he wont even try to get a new job in tech, he's going to push his business, said it could take a year to get a new job.

This stuff is just our generations seeing once and for all we shouldn't be in this thing for life.

God willing by 2030 I get some stuff shaking and then a decade from now just be on autopilot where I work because I want to not because I have to for survival

He's African, and extremely intelligent, not even sure if he would know the reference but he hit me with that Dame Dash quote,

I don't want to ever again tell my son I got fired

and I got what he was saying.

crazy thing is I saw him working from home, taking calls, walking around, hanging with me outside, and wasn't jealous, but was like he has a good life. and he still does, but we are all at the mercy of these powerful currents beyond our control.

Yup. Everybody wants change but they want everybody else to actually take the risks of getting it implemented. I've talked before in this thread of the times I stood up for other workers to upper management only for all those other workers to go silent and not say a word to back. Then those same cowards would text or IM on the low thanking me for saying what I said. Pissed me off cause if it was only one lone wolf saying it then upper management won't give a fukk but if it was a group of us we might get heard.

I bet the productivity for these overseas workers stinks. We would routinely have to QA overseas tickets due to constant errors or omissions. Or perform remediation training for them over and over again. On paper management believes it's saving money but work quality and productivity is abysmal.

You think they’ll be more layoffs in November? Im thinking about betting on Kalshi
Yeah, usually final quarter is.

However, starting 2nd quarter of next year or maybe end of first quarter, because of the recent rate cuts and the following ones, probably expect a big hiring surge.
