I’m not sure where y’all live where you have such inept Indian workers. Over 90% of the ones I have worked with have been pretty competitive. Sure, they look out for each other and sneak in relatives. But they pick things up fast. Y’all shouldn’t go out there really thinking they’re incompetent. Most are not.
You probably talking about the ones over here on visas already. The ones hired by companies overseas or by body shops are completely useless.

I've been in the tech field for over a decade. So I doubt you have as much experience in this area.

elaborate this to me like I'm 13.
Trump/Republicans are for the rich business owners/CEO's.

Rich business owners have to pay taxes and spend extra to outsource work.

Republicans will make it cheaper and more legal for CEO's to get outsourced work.

The top 10% of the smartest people in the world leaves about 800 million people to choose from.
The population of America in total (many dumb) is about 350 million.
That means for every one of us, there's two to three people who are in the top 10% IQ range.
If they want to do the work cheap because they don't need that much money to live like royalty in their country, companies will hire them.

We're going to build other countries' middle classes basically, even more than we are now.

Also, if you look at my original post I edited it to include an increase in the amount of skilled immigrants they most likely want to bring in (time stamped):

"We're going to have to let people come into our country. We want people to come back in but we have to we have to let them come back in but they have to come in legally. They have to come in legally."

I actually do have much more experience than you in this area. I’ve been in this since the very early 2000s. Shortly after 9/11. One of the first jobs I had was as a junior Unix system admin. And I remember a senior Indian member on my team saying he’s been doing tech work since 1992.

Since then I have dabbled in several different tech roles and almost all of them had heavy Indian presence.

Guys listen. The world out there is tough. Especially for black folks. Do not underestimate anyone. Especially these Indians. Because they stick together.

The good news is, if you are cunning, you can easily pull magical tricks on those who feel predisposed to think less of you based of the centuries long belief that black minds create nothing of worth.

But you gotta pick a niche and master that niche.

Sadly, you won’t.

Because society has orchestrated things in such a way that ensures YOU, the one reading this, the average Joe, are forever condemned to keep taking courses, classes, obtaining degrees and certifications JUST to have a chance at grabbing that carrot that’s being dangled in front of you.

I’ve kept watch of this thread and others like it. And it just breaks my heart no one is talking about creating anything. No talk of inventions. Nothing. You can argue that’s because no one has that kind of time to be fantasizing about manifesting in reality that which is new and unseen. And you would be right. See previous paragraph.

I've mainly done IT contracting and also started in the early 2000's. But I've worked for no less than 15 different companies. Jumping from one contract to another sometimes every year.

In my experience India is by far the worse of all these IT outsourcing destinations. And I've worked with outsourced labor all over the planet. But it could be due to the higher percentage of outsourced labor sent to India. But I never saw the same quality issues over and over again in Eastern Europe, Latin America or Southeast Asia like in India. It didn't matter the company nor Industry it was always the same story. None of the Indian workers had the skills or experience they claimed. Or the competent one would be swapped out mid contract for duds.

I'm close to leaving the tech field maybe as early as next year anyway. I never really liked the tech field and only did it for the money. But with the money drying up it's no longer worth it. Plus there is zero work life balance especially in cybersecurity.

Idk about y’all but I’ve begun looking outside the United States. As black people we aren’t safe.

If y’all are remotely watching what’s going on this, ain’t a good time to be here.

A lot of our tech skills are transferable and in demand out side the United States

My job can be done outside the country so I've definitely considered it. Not going to be rash though and wait to see how things go for making that move.

The time it took to hire one person on our team in the US. The company would hire 20 or 30 people in India. You would be amazed how quickly companies can increase headcount overseas it's machine like. By the time US layoffs get announced all their replacements have been onboarded in India already.
Old coworker of mine claimed that when he would show up for interviews in India there would literally be 100+ people there for the same role. Not 100 people applied on a website when the job was posted...100 people who passed a phone screen there in person for an actual interview. I don't know if this was a thing at body shops or all Indian companies or what. They could probably staff an entire department after a week of interviewing, quality notwithstanding.

IT in India is the worst and best experience at the same time.

The mean skill level for someone in India is awful. They lie on resumes, have fake certs, have people doing phone screens for them, they work multiple jobs, have terrible etiquette, etc..... all around I hate interviewing them with a passion (no offense to anyone who is from India here)

But when you stumble on the .01% who are actually legit, they are like literally tech gods

But outside of big tech, they make like 50-75% less than someone in the US for the exact same role and there is an unlimited supply of them. So companies would be stupid to not take advantage of that. So I get it.

If they all cheated on the phone screen I can see why they have to interview so many people on site.

Apple illegally threatened workers over their talk about pay and remote work, feds charge

One Apple employee was allegedly threatened with unspecified reprisals if they talked about their performance bonus. Another was purportedly ordered to delete a post on social media about how to continue working remotely at the company. One was allegedly told to stop talking about pay on internal messaging systems and warned that the tech giant was “monitoring these discussions.” And another, software engineer Cher Scarlett, was purportedly railroaded out of the company after creating an online pay survey for workers at the trillion-dollar company.

Those claims form the basis of a federal government charge accusing the Cupertino iPhone giant of illegally “interfering with, restraining and coercing employees” exercising their rights under the National Labor Relations Act to help each other with workplace issues.

Project 2025 and H1B

President-elect Trump has signaled he will be hiring Tom Homan, one of the authors of Project 2025. Here is a summary of what P25 wants to do about H1B:

1. Admitting Only Highest-Skilled Workers: The plan advocates for admitting only the highest-skilled foreign workers to the U.S. This means tightening the criteria for H-1B visa applicants to ensure they are among the top talent in their field.

2. Raising Salary Floors: Project 2025 suggests raising the salary floors for H-1B visa holders, which would require employers to pay higher wages to foreign workers.

3. Tightening Oversight: The plan proposes stricter oversight of companies that hire H-1B workers to prevent abuse of the system and ensure compliance with the new regulations.

4. Reducing Visa Numbers: It also suggests reducing the number of H-1B visas issued annually, which could limit the availability of these visas for employers and potential applicants.
