Standard procedure around the world?

Chinas taking it to the extreme

China’s Soccer Push Takes a New Tack: Naturalizing Foreign Players

You saying we couldn’t convince second tier south americas who don’t make the senior team to switch if we wanted?

:mjlol:

Did you even read the article? He qualifies for China and because of his mother has Chinese roots.

Just because South America had America in its name doesn't people are eligible to play for America.

This isn't like athletics when the Gulf Countries were taking the 4-8th ranked Jamaican sprinters or the 10-15th ranked Kenyan and Ethiopian long distance runners and they only had to do a half time residence for a year to become eligible to represent their new country.

Why is Juan Pablo Angel Dominguez Garcia Sanchez going to give up his chance to play for Real Madrid and go play for Real Salt Lake instead? When most likely he has already played a competitive game for his country?

Even the 2nd tier nations in South America start giving out debuts to the most talent youngsters when they are of school age still.

What is your idea? Kidnap them, give them plastic surgery and new identity, just so they can represent America?

U speaking real nikkas just memeing bro

The real is, America has shyt coaching, terrible infrastructure and a hard on athleticism instead of technique.

Even with countries who have those things and the players and they still don't win. But Merica is going to put that right?

I read it. Did u?

First guy had ties to China. 3rd guy has no ties.

Did you read this part?

“The tactic of selecting foreign-born players, and perhaps even foreigners without Chinese heritage — there has been speculation that a clutch of Brazilians who have spent years in China’s top league could be next — is not without risk, and the national soccer federation has issued several directives on handling the transitions.”

I think you’re confused about how they can qualify. They don’t have to play in the USA, they just have to “live” here.

:mjlol: Browning? He has a Chinese grandfather, you fool.

Everton old boy Tyias Browning on how his new life in China is like facing Stoke

Brazilians who have lived in China for years, Brazilians not good enough to play for Brasil national team. Basically scrub Brazilian players. Not the ones which you said they should target the Top Talent.

If they have no ties to America, how they suppose to get their passport if they aren't living in the country? They have to show they have physically lived in the country for a certain amount of time, no way getting around that. Cannot just pitch up, say yeah I want to play for America and oh yeah BTW, I'm not going to live here for 10 months of the year I'll be paying in Europe somewhere. Sorry breh it doesn't work like that.

The USA system doesn't allow for kids to do nothing but train like most of the world.

Other countries have top notch academies.

Meanwhile America is relying on traveling leagues and D1 colleges.

It takes money to compete against top notch competition and coaching.

Honest question, why isnt futsal more popular here? Its inside, so no complaint about the cold. It's also more exciting than regular soccer imo

If you really think u being a resident means u have to live somewhere for 10 months. Go run the irs so they can all the rich us citizens to pay taxes who have residencies in Monaco.

To be a resident you just to have a permanent place to live in said country and you stay there once every 6 months, with permission by the government. You are a resident.

Why are you acting dumb?

A resident doesn't = National.

Show that you have been physically present in the United States for at least 30 months out of the 5 years immediately preceding the date of filing Form N-400.

Naturalization Information

So how does a person who has no ties or even lived in America before. But decides to play for America, but is working in Europe for 9 months of the year, going to play for America without being naturalized? Even tho they have to live in America for 6 months of the year over a 5 year period going to get their passport?

but why would they "live " here if they're good enough to play in a decent European or South American league?

Eu Sou O Segundo
Yeah that’s not what I’m referring to. We easily could get top talent by giving visas out to soccer players around the world so they’d get citizenship here.

Kind of like how a lot of countries give mid tier ex nba players citizenship to play b-ball for their country.

It’s commendable we don’t take the easy way out and do this, bc we easily could and would have a way better team pretty quickly

I’ll give props to the USA for trying to build homegrown talent. We easily could be a top 10 Team if we gave out visas like that d

You’re in here arguing without having even a basic knowledge of the topic at hand.

Bless your heart. :mjgrin:

The residency requirement for players lacking birth or ancestral connections with a specific country was extended from two to five years in May 2008 at FIFA's Congress as part of Blatter's efforts to preserve the integrity of competitions involving national teams.[15]
The relevant current FIFA statute, Article 7: Acquisition of a new nationality, states:[16]
Any player who refers to art. 5 par. 1[note 1] to assumes a new nationality and who has not played international football [in a match (either in full or in part) in an official competition of any category or any type of football] shall be eligible to play for the new representative team only if he fulfils one of the following conditions:
a) He was born on the territory of the relevant association;
b) His biological mother or biological father was born on the territory of the relevant association;
c) His grandmother or grandfather was born on the territory of the relevant association;
d) He has lived continuously for at least five years after reaching the age of 18 on the territory of the relevant association.

Us requirements to be a Resident

An applicant for naturalization has the burden of establishing that he or she has complied with the continuous residence requirement, if applicable. There are two types of absences from the United States that are automatically presumed to break the continuity of residence for purposes of naturalization. [9]

  • Absences of more than 6 months but less than one year; and

  • Absences of one year or more.
You just have to be here twice a year to be a resident. :hhh: You done now?
