Lessons learned:
1. Our defense is good but not deep. The absence of two players (Patterson and Soliai) shouldn't mean that we get raped by average running backs like that. We circled the wagons in the end zone, but a more potent offense (like our next opponents, the Saints) will come away with 7 points. We have to contain offenses in their territory.
2. This has to be one of the worst pass-protect lines in all of football. 3 games in, and Ryan Tannehill has been sacked, what? 14 times already? Tyson Clabo is toilet paper. And fukk people who were saying that Ritchie Incognito had improved significantly a year ago. He still makes huge mistakes in high pressure situations. Jonathan Martin has performed admirably at left tackle, but he's clearly not the presence that Jake Long was. It'll take him at least a year to become the man. We have 20 mil in cap space to play around with. Any journeyman has to be better than Clabo.
3. We need a power running game that teams actually respect. I know Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas aren't the most bruising backs or anything, but way too often, we ran it straight into the teeth of the offense with no tangible result. I get that it's good to mix plays up just to keep the defense on its toes, but it seemed like any run up the gut was basically a non-starter. I blame the o-line for this too.
