I think Bernie will pack the courts, but we’re probably going to need 2 consecutive progressive administrations to reorganize the courts.

That’s why the reparations thing is so interesting. What’s to stop a white person with some black in them making a claim if it’s technically based on lineage? We know it’s bullshyt but is a conservative judge really going to bring that nuance?

More reason not to have dropped the AFRICAN from AADOS.

The other interesting thing about reparations questions is people throw out 300-400 years of slavery.... but the US didn’t actually exist until 1776.

Slavery ends in 1864 or 65. So technically the US government sanctioned slavery for about 90 years.

I’m in favor of reparations but I really can’t blame a presidential candidate for being shaky about it. The legislative bandwidth you’d have spend on this would be insane.

Put 27 dollahs in a bag, label it "ONLY 4 BLACKS, NOBODY ELSE", problem solved, I guess.

I said in TLR this movement needs to put together a team to write out the technical policy details and present it to all candidates so there is no confusion is someone wants to do it. Dudes are getting happy from someone saying 100 billion but im like Apple alone is worth 1 trillion, are you really saying what your ancestors went through is worth 100 billion? The “its a start” stuff aint gonna cut it because since 90% of people aint tryna end globaly white supremacy the system will get a 100 billion dollar check amd continue to operate as normal thus rendering the check useless and if you call them out they can just say “we gave you your check HYON :hubie:

It would take more political capital to push reparations through than any other big ticket campaign item. So unless it's popular among large swathes of their constituency I'm not sure they'd risk it and potentially neuter the rest of their agenda.

Even if reparations were to pass I HIGHLY doubt it would be cash.

Put it this way, if the government starts give 100k payouts we all need to get strapped up:francis:

The racial tension would explode. Ninjas going to say it’s already bad, but nah bruh. That would be something way worse.

Hey I say let it burn :yeshrug:

Let white supremacy cannibalize itself, those who dont care about it will have to make a decision at that point and a check cant save em

It's just never going to pass, at least in the sense of the government mailing out checks. Like I've said, this recent push is literally just an attempt to get black people to not vote.

Not that anybody is obligated to vote a certain way, or at all, but let's call it what it is. :yeshrug:

You're just rambling. This isn't TLR. :francis:

You probably weren't voting before. :yeshrug:

Now you're just attaching to a movement to justify your apathy. It isn't a bad idea, but your expectations are unrealistic.

Maybe you'll get lucky and benefit from the policies you refuse to support. Maybe your life will continue to get worse.

Good luck

I feel you, but I think this is the wrong strategy. I know a lot of people think that not voting will force Pols to address our issues. This could actually have the opposite effect, and make them cater even more to working class white voters at the expense of Black people. I fukking hate Hillary Clinton for a variety of reasons. However, she would of did less damage than Trump. More than 7 million people loss healthcare under Trump. A lot of those people were Black. He made it harder for first time home buyers
Young homebuyers get no help from one of Trump's swift, first moves
Again this effects a lot of Black people, and I could go on. Black issues need to get addressed, but at the same time I don’t want to do more damage to our people. I think a better strategy is to engage in the primaries and back the candidate that best addresses our issues. Also we need to built independent Black political organization that can lobby on our behalf.
