Tariq been hustling from the jump but I actually agree with him that voting isn't going to save black people. The funny thing about black people mad at other black people who didn't vote is the fact they automatically assume you would've voted democrat. If the nikkas who didn't vote told you they would've voted republican or for trump during the election you would've been happy that they stayed home. Why are we foolish enough to believe that a country that was taken by bloodshed, slavery, rape, and theft would allow itself to have it's power shifted by voting? Voting is really there so you won't storm the castle because you have the illusion of actual power and choice to shift power. This is just my opinion though.

Whose responsibility is it to find out about the candidate that you're voting for? Yours right? You watch the debates, you google their voting positions, you contact their office and ask about their position on policy agenda that you specifically care about. I mean at the very least, you can do that right? Whats wrong with y'all?

The police union contract is currently being negotiated here, I reached out to my alderman because I want 2 things specifically included in the new contract. Drug and Alcohol testing at the scene of any officer involved shooting and monies awarded from police misconduct cases be taken from the police union pension, not from tax payers. I specifically told him, if he doesn't try to get it in, I wont vote for him. I will tell everyone in my ward who agrees with me to vote against him and he knows I mean it.

I'm black and I'm not a member of the democrat party, I don't automatically vote democrat myself either. So my expectation isn't for people to come out and support the democrats, it's for supporting our democracy. You can vote for whoever you want, staying inside and doing nothing is weak IMO. I think it's even more important in local elections where you vote on things like judges, which can impact you directly.

You say this country was taken by violence, but you probably aren't about that life either. So if you aren't organizing a violent revolution and you refuse to vote, what is your gameplan?
