This would encompass lots of “Latinos”

You realize a person can be “black” and “Latino” right?

No, they don’t. There is and has been nothing similar to what you guys are advocating here. I’m not sure you understand your history on this point.

Again slaves were traded from America to The Caribbean and back. What about someone descendent from a slave in the USA but one of their kids got traded south, would his bloodline not be eligible. And again how the hell would we even determine this?

Your argument requires “specifics” cause you’d have to closely scrutinize peoples ancestry to make it work.

“Black” people is not really a defined thing. Gotta define that before you can say only “black” people should get something.

it would not encompass alot of Latinos...sorry man. If you mark black, you're black. i'm not interested in debating 16% blacks or get into a geneaology debate. you know damn well when the census comes out and it asks if you're black or latino...any black person is going to select black, anyone who doesn't feel they are black or more proud to be latino will select latino...at that point, my case would be closed. This for black reparations particularly those who are DOS and whatever other rules can be applied to ensure this sacred group of people are made whole, I'm 100% for...happy to have other initiatives targeting lationos after the laws are in place that repair the black communities and the atrocities of slavery.

You're the type of person generally that when we talk about the civil rights marches, you want to chime in "but there were jews marching with you", the 1% of Jews that were marching doesn't mask the fact it was a wholly black experience and the majority of the lives sacarficed were black AMERICANS. Black Latinos who came over in the last 60 years and the "me no black" crowd are eating at the table we made and I would rather America finally get it right for once at least for reparations.

Jews, Native Americans, and Japanese. You can make your own arguements and debate they, they all have reparations at the tax payers dime....but don't give me this bullshyt that it's not the same.

There's nothing pro black about calling someone a cracker spic.

besides the name calling the assertion that we recognize that lighter skin latino/latinas aren't the same as darker ski latino/latinas and were typically treated much better and enpowered in thier native lands is awareness of disparged situations blacks/afro-latinos were put in and that her predecessors probably did profit from slavery

Again, in the census “black” and “Latino” are two separate categories.

A person can mark “Latino” AND “Black”

The census does not ask Black OR Latino, they are two separate categories some “black” people mark “Latino” some don’t.

No, I’m the person speaking in reality.

If we are talking about the experience having brown skin has given you since 1892, then a lot of the people you wouldn’t consider “black” in 2019 have had the same or similar experience.

It’s not up to me to educate you on history.

Both “reparations” and “black” have ment very different things over the course of history.

You gotta define both terms before asking for “reparations for black people”[/QUOTE]

I'm Black American on all sides and these people are insufferable. Sad thing is they don't do anything outside of whine on the internet. "Don't Vote!" ya'll!

I’m going to ignore them going forward. There is really no conversation to be had with them since they can’t even articulate what they want.

My only solace is that they are a small insignificant group with no polictical power.l outside if the internet.

They’ll probably move on to something else when Tariq and Yvette run this hustle to the ground.

nah

he has and there are genuine failings on behalf of the democratic party in regards to the black people that have only been exacerbated 10x by this current stage of Neoliberalism

but let's keep it funky, he and many figureheads like him (sans Yvette) really have contempt for poor black folk, the same way cacs do to the rednecks, white trash etc.

He's either an agent or a useful idiot.

Anybody whose agenda revolves around telling black people not to vote is one or other, no exceptions. :yeshrug:

Black Latinos Are Almost Invisible In The Census. We Can Fix That. | HuffPost

It is not surprising, then, that in the 2010 census, only 2.5 percent of Latinos selected “black” as their race. For many Latinos, selecting “white” or “some other race” in the census is aspirational. It is an attempt to join a category that they are often excluded from. Latinos of all races carry with them the anti-black baggage that colonialism and slavery imposed upon them. Self-identification, however, tells us little about how others see and treat Latinos. The data we collect should reflect these social outcomes.

fukk you and fukk all you "me no black" apologists, no reparations for you!

it's cut and dry for me, don't try to run back 2020 census when reparations are released and tick the box, in 2010 you weren't "black" that takes a large population of wanna bes out of contention.

lastly it's "black skin" you obviously keep trying to inject latino (brown skin) into the conversation....there's no one in 2019 that is being treated like blacks were in 1892-1970...cmon man. again this is slave (DOS) reparations, it's cut and dry for me, why can't you wrap your head around this simple concept.

fukk are you even talking about?? :mjlol:

This doesn’t change what I said.

This would still be a lot of “Latinos” getting reparations.

Also not all people filled out a census . If the census is your litmus test, then you’d be leaving out a bunch of deserving people and giving reparations to millions of Latinos. And your article says young Latinos are more likely to check “black” so in your scenario young Latinos would get a check, but their parents won’t. shyt makes absolutely zero sense.

Not to mention all types of people who can’t trace their ancestors back to American slaves check “black” on the census, so under your plan @KingJudah2 would be eligible:mjlol:

Like I said, your plan isn’t based in reality or what would help the black community, it’s only based on hate and spite.
