So after the honeymoon period(that early portion when you buy a good game and think its amazing). I see some flaws with this.

The boss difficulty spikes feel fukking annoying. The fights themselves aren't that hard but having to mechanically combo and dodge while also playing potion manager for your party members makes things harder than it needs to be.

I dunno if I'm getting old but getting into the rhythm of the combat and exploring a dungeon only to be met with a cutscene....not even a real cutscene but just some random break where they talk about useless shyt is starting to grate at me. I'm not talking about the skits either cause you can skip those its when you walking into a dungeon and the screen goes black for a second and they start talking nonsese.

The SP per fight and exp seem low as fukk for some reason. I am doing my grinding thing I do in almost every JRPG but it somehow feels worse doing it on here. You get almost no gold or it feels like no gold and the constant CP usage means you can't really be grinding like that when you not near a camp. Killing my turn the brain off put on some headphones and mindlessly grind mobs vibe.

Game is still good though. Kind of sad Alphen seems like a square since he looks like one of the most badass JRPG characters in awhile only to find out he's the same kind of uber heroic square for no reason protag.

I hear you on the cutscenes thing. While they don't really bother me much at all in most games, specially jrpgs, I can see how that can be bothersome for some at its pacing here.

The way of grinding in typical Jrpgs has been changed a bit in this one tho. And bosses haven't been too hard for me and I'm playing on hard. Am I practically spent of CP once the fight is done? Sure, but the spikes don't feel too crazy for me yet.

I'm mainly interested in Alphen because I'm curious about his backstory and why the fukk he woke up with a mask on and no memory.

Wondering if he's part Renan or something and doesn't know it. But I agree, outside of his backstory he seems like a fairly typical RPG protagonist.

Maybe its not that the boss fights are hard rather that the regular fights are so easy that once you hit a boss specifically the lords its like whoa what the fukk is this.

I'm on the 3rd region/castle now and despite all the fishing spots I've come across, I've not see any mention of where to get a fishing rod. Where/when do you get the fishing rod? I figure I must have passed it somehow, as I'm sure I would have had it by now.
You had no issues with 2nd lord?

I like this game, but the influence FF7R has on this is undeniable.
its definitely there with the bosses getting mid-fight events and triggers. the title system taking a departure from the tales norm and being similar to FF7R's weapon system isn't unnoticed either

Yeah, do the titles themselves even do anything this time around? Setting them, I mean. I know that when you get new titles, you get the skills list that has their respective abilities/traits in them.

unlocking everything on the circle gets you the permanent stat boost you see if you hover the emblem in the middle :manny: there's probably more to it tho because tales loves stacking on mechanics every 10 hours or so. might have some post-game stuff associated as well

im playing mostly blind as shyt :manny:

Might be the other way around. This game doesn't play too far away from other Tales games. FF7R doesn't play like any FF game.

I aint talking about the combat bro. How they actually made this game and the direction they went in. This feels like I'm playing a more anime version of what FF7R was trying to convey, whereas FF7R feels like closer to a live action TV show.

FF7R is still a turn based game whether people understand that or not, it isn't that far of a departure as it's basically FF12's system just you have to hit the basic attack button not set it to a gambit and let it do it for you.
