I think the opportunity will be there in our lifetime to forge our own nation. just need IT to happen :sas2:

whether that nation amounts to anything great... yea probably not in our lifetime :manny:

Whenever that happens, be prepared to invest in a trillion dollar military to prevent "accidents" that they are planning on us.

A rising tide does not lift all boats. In order to solve the 'race problem', you need targeted policies to help black people. Call it reparations. Call it whatever but you need it. Sanders is unwilling to do so because he fears white reactionaries.

Is Clinton?? Don't you think its quite reasonable on his part to keep things close to the vest on the subject???????

again, Sander's policies will undoubtedly help black people :stopitslime:

the point is "if you assume that the interests and the structures which generate inequality, dispossession and misery are not amenable to the petitions to the enlightened ruling class from one section of the oppressed, then the only way we’re going to be able to make anyone’s life better is to change the terms of political debate. And we can only do that on the basis of common experience and the most broadly shared experience is that of those who work for a living or are expected to work for a living."

do you agree or no? :jbhmm:

he's not denying that

"And we can only do that on the basis of common experience and the most broadly shared experience is that of those who work for a living or are expected to work for a living. And I don’t see how we can get to any sort of a better world going through any other route."

That basis won't work. :manny:

If you are familiar with the "Southern Strategy", You know that race and class are intertwined.

If you want to solve the race problem, solve the class problem.

Nope.

I mean come on.. how do you solve the lowest white feeling like their superior to the greatest black?

This race shyt ain't solvable by solving the class problem.

America has adopted conditions in the past to ameliorate conditions, but either those services were denied to black people or have failed black people. Why should I believe differently given the track record? re: the New Deal

Given the disparity in wealth, income, socio-economic outcomes between blacks and whites there HAS to be targeted programs to help black people. Socialism for Sanders is not the socialism we need.

You'd also be fooling yourselves if you thought Sanders could win the Presidency or even pass any of his reforms through Congress. Why radical socialism is possible for Sanders but targeted programs to help black people are not is beyond me.

The argument is that the lowest whites need to feel superior to something precisely because they have been given the economic short shrift. Virulent racism is a poor man's ideology.

I don't even need hard data to know that programs like Social Security have kept many older black ppl that I know personally afloat instead of on the brink of starvation or homeless. No they aren't exactly thriving, but that's just one example of a social program that benefits everyone.

"Who is going to give us the biggest crumbs" is sadly the only realistic position we can take in America and tbh globally as long as Western hegemony reigns.

Right wing strategy in the US has always been predicated on race politics for the sole purpose of staying wealthy

Making whites feel threatened by blacks for their jobs, women etc etc

If you can solve the class issue, you can blunt much of the bullshyt static of right wing race politics
