Yeah they are too disconnected from what is the most interesting part of the show.
I was expecting it to be revealed that they were worshippers of The Beast and his agents on Earth but it just looks like they are after magic spells for personal power and thats it.

I do think the Fillory/"Narnia" stuff is becoming the most interesting part. It seems like the main character was recruited just because of his connection to the Fillory universe.

If Fillory is basically Narnia, I wonder if there is a version of the Lion that is fighting the Beast? Or, is the Beast really an evil version of the Lion, and the Fillory books were written from the perspective of a Beast worshipper?

I think the next episode will provide more insight into your questions.

Dunno if the show will take the same direction as the books, but even having only read the first one, the place Fillory plays in the books is the most interesting idea the author put out, by far

Talk about a dark, sad, and tragic episode of the show tonight :sadcam:

Not only with Quentin learning the truth about his idol, but also the Julia story line as well.
Breh the show is getting darker and darker with every passing episode, and I must say it's being executed pretty well, from
gay buddy trying to drown his sorrow with alcohol, to Alice being shell shock to what she just witnessed, and how ol author buddy really was a pedophile, got me wondering if Fillary didn't want to let Peter or whatever his name is in bc he lost his innocence, I also don't think the pedophile author is the beast, I think that's misdirection

The most :demonic: episode of Scooby Doo ever. Seriously though, the best episode of the show yet.

I haven't been spoiled, but my guess is that
the boy he was molesting learned the 6 finger spell from him and became the current beast. He was mad at the Fillory "gods" for not letting him back in and leaving him in the house with the author.

I think I may have figured out how they're going to connect the "Hedge Witch" plot with the main plot. From the past two episodes we see that people who learn "Brakebills" magic aren't nearly as powerful as they think they are. The Dean had the guy possessed by the beast in an anti-magic room, and he walked out of it like it was nothing. Penny thought that he could control the button, because he trained under the Brakebills South guy, but he immediately was teleported away. The magic they're learning just isn't good enough, but they're arrogant enough to not realize it.

In the mean time, the "witch" girl is leaning to channel the power of the gods. They probably need that to get help from the Fillory gods.

A lot of stuff was going on in this episode.

Margot's ex made a sex golem of her that was draining her life force :skip:

Quentin met Alice's freaky parents and got some tips in the bedroom to up his sex game :ehh: while saving Penny in the process.

Quentin's sex dream in the beginning with Alice as Khaleesi and Julia as Slave Leia :shaq:

Speaking of Julia, she gets reunited with Kady and learns that her new magician buddies are trying to summon a God. The show as a whole has done a decent job in weaving in her storyline into the 1st season, considering it mostly springs from book 2.

Preview for next week though :whoo:
