It takes time... unlike SAO, they are gonna explain things as the series rolls on, rather than doing it from the initial episode. Some of the best anime have slow starts to revealing the plot.

I've read that on the wikipedia I believe. But I've never seen any canon connection between the two. If he's done crossovers, I don't know about them.
