Jake Ballard retires from the NFL
Tight end Jake Ballard, who started 13 regular-season games and three postseason games for the 2011 Giants, has retired from the NFL. Ballard tore an ACL during New York’s Super Bowl XLVI win over the Patriots.

The Giants originally called it an ankle sprain. Coach Tom Coughlin called it an ankle/foot kind of thing. Regardless, the Giants look like they'll be without Hillis for some time.
