now imagine living amongst ppl like these and you're the minority... the reasons why some atheists commit suicide is because ppl around them are so fuqqin retarded that they just don't ever see them coming back to their senses and say fuq it...

No, you're still reading it wrong. Not 48% of the 35%. They asked everyone in the group if they're a self-identified born again, evangelical, or fundamentalist. Of those who said yes, 48% answered yes to the other question about prayer and mental illness. 35% of the whole group, including those self-described evangelicals said yes to the question.

Ahhh, got it......

Of the 1,001 people surveyed, 35% said they believe in the statement: "With just Bible study and prayer, ALONE, people with serious mental illness like depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia could overcome mental illness."

That is 351 people which is 1% of the US population and .0000004% of the the Christian community as a whole.

The results are still troublesome though.

You're overreacting, IMO.

Personally, I could give a fukk what you believe, you don't affect my life one way or the other. :manny: However, I find it funny that most atheists somehow think they are so much more intelligent than people who believe in a higher power, and go out of their way to justify their belief (or so called non-belief) that has turned into a religion in and of itself. It's hilarious actually. Like I said, y'all are some miserable motherfukkers.

this would only make sense if the ppl polled were those helping at treatment centers
Many of the people at treatment centers practice the same methods. I'm not a christian, but I think Christians have
helped more alcoholics than anyone. Let's not pretend that those people are completely off base. They aren't 100% but they aren't simply basesless.... the Christian way is all about group help and treatment for mental illness is heavy into group help and self reflection.

I am a christian and the recidivism rate from AA is pretty much the same for people NOT in AA. I think it helps but ultimately it's just a means to an end, one that can be acquired doing any other number of things.
