This Superman dichotomy is played the fukk out, like the only Superman people like is the Reeves one

How about just having one that’s not a mopey, passive-aggressive, charismatic black hole, with a dikkhead for a dad, and whose heroics have the same energy as a kid taking out the garbage

We're already getting a Supergirl origin story and I can bet hers will be contrasted against his. And we'll probably see the destruction of krypton in her film - do we need it in two movies?

The DCU is a universe you have to know where to strike a balance.

Why wouldn't it? Snyder's superman was hard mid, don't try and fake like it was some masterpiece that can never be topped or outdone.

From an action perspective it definitely raised the bar for superman movies. As much as I like the movie it can definitely be topped I just think going back towards the reeves/superman returns style wouldn’t help

Gaurantee Superman fails DC has a stigma to it even before the Last DCU movies and that is Batman is the only one that sells.

I actually feel like its guaranteed this one just does "alright" at best, but starts building momentum for the future DC movies

Superman is boring he gets a new power every issue.
his supporting cast is annoying. No one gives a fukk about jimmy olsen, louis lane, whoever else they got. outside of generic ass doom and general zod no one else stands out.

That stigma was mostly Snyderverse shyt which is being left behind. Some of that was Snyder's own doing (trash writing) and some of that was due to WB stepping in too much. Seems most shyt outside of that was either getting critical acclaim(Gunn's Suicide Squad) or both critical and commercial success(The Batman/Joker)

Like if Superman Legacy does close to MoS numbers and is more critically acclaimed, that's a win. You have a good foundation to build off of for the rest of the Gunn DCU.

Gunn got ppl to care about z list Marvel characters in GotG and Peacemaker, I imagine he will have no issues getting Superman right. IIRC he was also over MCU's cosmic shyt too.

A good chuck of the outcry against Gunn and his plans are from mad SnyderCult nikkas. Gunn has a better track record with comic movies than Synder, so real comic fans/DC fans should be happy someone like Gunn is heading things

In terms of tone, I want somewhere in between animated series/Justice League and Man of Steel. There's no need to go full Christopher Reeves, but there should be a happy medium between Dini/Timm and Synder

Its insane WB never looked at those shows for inspiration for their universe. The tone for the show could adapt depending on the story being told.

Gunn says he’s watched JL/JLU and I think young justice so im guessing he’ll take some inspiration from them
