It's never coming back to what it was. The theater industry needs to change. And the answer is starring them right in the face. Netflix, HBO, and Amazon need to get into the theater business or partner with existing chains the allow their subscribers to watch their bigger movies in theaters. Theaters make most their money on concessions so if my hbo max subscription also allowed me watch movies like suicide squad in theaters for free it would be a win win for everyone.

I think the industry will settle on the 40 day theater window when all is said and done. That keeps everybody happy. FOMO will drive most to the theater and the rest will wait till the films hit streaming services.

This is gonna be an ongoing issue. We might look back in years and realized streaming may have killed the movie industry. Between box offices tanking and DVD sales pretty much being non existent. I think movie budgets will shrink and we will get less quality movies
This is a complex problem because there are so many things that you could possibly point a finger too. It could be streaming, it could be Covid, both, it could also be audiences are growing tired of superhero films.etc.

We got a few YEARS until theaters are even somewhat back to pre-covid. Talking like 2024 at the earliest.

hopefully these actors adjust their asking price because that cut of theater revenue ain't happening for a minute.

They're going to have to become less reliant on the "back end" bread that comes from box office revenue and ask for an increase in base pay amount for all parties involved. I'm surprised that Disney was still even doing back end deals after what happened with RDJ and his situation.

I wonder what her contract looks like where she thought she missed out on $50 million dollars from her film and how did she determine that dollar amount. She wasn't going to hit close to that even if the film released sorely in theaters. I know RDJ in particular got 8% of the profits from Endgame. I couldn't imagine them giving a percentage higher than that after how that deal played out.

Having the duel release with HBO Max definitely had an impact. And as much as I like it, there were bunch of deep cut (for casuals) characters and is a pretty niche film that would be weird to market IMO, not to mention DC tried to tip toe around it being a reboot or sequel, I had people ask me that and even I was like :patrice:

They should have left Harley and Boomerang out and gone straight reboot. I loved this movie, but all my comic friends have no interest in it after the first one.
