I don't care what anybody says. Black women that bleach their skin can go to hell with other self-hating pieces of shyt and c00ns.

They're just as bad as Asian women that get surgery on their eyes to appear more white/european.

Sure, it's their life..and they can do what they want. And that's fine. That's what makes life great!

Stuff like this just makes it easier for black men like me who are proud of themseves and their race to throw them in the garbage.

We don't need self-hating pieces of shyt that will put corrosive chemicals on their skin to pass their mental illnesses to their children.

I look at these pictures and I see a cry for help.

Spend thousands to look like a post op Latina tranny brehs!

WHY???:damn:

I really notice that Nigerian women have it hard and really tend to bask in their insecurities. It sucks.

I just don't get why bleaching is so popular over there and in the West Indies.

are you planning to marry a nigerian girl :lupe:

damn shame.

i just went to the first pic she posted.

what makes chicks hate their skin?

Man, it ain;t rocket science when it comes to Western Civilizaton/society.

White/light skinned = right/"normal" (cause of white supremacy and white skin being seen as "normal"). See the concept of a "default human" and Peggy MacIntosh's "Decoding white Privelege" for more details on this.

Women are already marginalized and cut down if they don't fit to some male dictated standard because of a sexist/patriarchal society.

Black/dark skinned= gross/criminal/diseased/poor/ugly/insert negative adjective here

Black women/black people in the eyes of eurocentric society and everyone else are always seen as ugly. Look at ads with models ad you'll always notice how the black models are always pushed to the far right of the picture or at the end....almost as if people don't want to see them. Dark skinned black people are seen as ugly, or a niche, or a rare uncorn in society. Look at how uncomfortable people are around really dark skinned Africans to the point where they feel they have to make jokes about them. People like Alek Wek and Lupita really expose alot of people's insecurities when it comes to being dark skinned blacks. Not even recognizing that this is our nature and what makes us unique as humans...being different.

Go on twitter and type in "dark skinned". You'll read such enriching comments from so-called black people about how he/she is "too dark" and making all sorts of gifs and photoshops that would make your most ardent white supremacist on st0rmfr0nt jealous cause he didn't think of that.

Even Indian people who are as dark as me love them some whiteys and hate black folks. Even when they're at the absolute BOTTOM of the caste system that white/european influence is responsible for that led to slavery in the Americas.

So ofcourse, this leads black women to hate their skin color. Again, it's not rocket science.

I have a few working theories about this.

I'd say its primarily because Africans are too far away from the physical reality of "whiteness"/white people to see the shyt underneath the gleam. They get fed much of the same cultural signifiers of white superiority as African Americans but they don't get to see the man behind the curtains, so to speak. Its a lot easier to valorise whiteness if you're not in contact with it everyday.

African Americans are intimately familiar with the lie of white supremacy because they have to live that shyt everyday and so aren't quite as quick to emulate it. They were able to establish counter-cultures in defense against it (though many of these are now being assimilated).

Colonialism oppressed Africans, but at arms length so there was never really anything legitimate to build against. One of the fatal flaws of African nationalism was that the enemy it defined itself against was a false construct. I'm sure many Africans are aware on some level that white people are human in the same way that they are, but most will never actually experience it. On the other hand they will see the models in Italian Vogue and the white people pictured on their healthcare products, advertisments, tv and sports games. They'll only ever see the best of what whiteness has to offer.

Good post.

But honestly, it's like African culture is so removed from Western/European/American culture I would honestly think we would have enough pride to avoid this mess.

But yeah, I try explaining it to people on here. There's a real concentrated effort that I feel is put upon Africans in America to "assimilate" into American culture. And for us, it's the hardest.

I mean, look at African Americans. Most of y'all have names like Brad or John or Kerry or Mary and last names like Washinghton and Jackson and McNabb. On a resume looking for jobs, y'all good as gold. Most of y'all are seen as "more" American that us. Us, on the other hands, we just can't do it like that. White people can't even pronounce our names and would like to use "Americanized" names to refer to us. For example, my dad's name is Iyalla, but most people in his profession (he's a doctor) refer to him as Ned (his middle name). That's just indicative of the environment they came up in where other people have to change to comfort their own ignorance and unwillingness to learn and think outside the box.

As well, Africans are seen as the closest thing to uncivilized animals there is. There are still racist white mofos that think we aren't even human. Think about that; In 2014, there are white academics that use Africans as some sort of case study in comparison to apes or primates. In the news, most Africans are seen as violent warlords, diseased beasts, rapists, AIDS carriers, hungry and starving, looking for handouts, and incapable of running their own lives. Africans are seen in western media as charity cases and the worst is always applied to us. Even African Americans talk shyt on us and see us like the rest of Americans and call us "african booty scratchers" and shoot themselves in the foot.

So, I can see how this self-hate complex manifests itself horribly with Africans.

absolutely with out a doubt. How many brothers do you see buying white men horse hair and sewing in their own heads?

Black men just tend to grin and bear it. Let's not act like it doesn't affect us though.

Growing up in Western PA, even I had a moment (when I waas much younger) when I wanted straight hair and tried to bleach my skin. But then again, that area is 12% non-white and has a huge colonial influence (it was one of the first...THE first...American colony!!!). Plus I went to predominantly white schools where there were less than 20 black people (I sadly attended college in Western PA/Pittsburgh too).

I had people make fun of my fro wanting to touch it all the time and make jokes. I had people make jokes about my skin color (talking about "we couldn't see you except your eyes in this picture"). Cause I was black and wore glasses people called me Urkel. Cause I didn't play sports I was invisible in the eyes of many cause black people in America are seen as freaks...per say, if they don't like rap or play sports...or are academic. I was always hesistant trying to talk to women I liked, non-black women and even black women cause black women be on that colorism shyt too ("oh he fine but he too dark...")in this country so I went long periods (I'm talking years) without even approaching women. Still getting over it cause I spent a long time in that environment (over 20 years)...I probably may never will completely but I'm trying dammit. That shyt is REALLY mentally trying and can lead to depression, low self-esteem, and other issues...especially topped off with dealing with coming from a different culture, trying to "assimilate" in American culture/society, and belonging to an already disadvantaged and marginalized group of people.
