Zero chance the Knicks incorporate analytics with this roster. The construction of the roster is the exact opposite of what the advanced stats will tell you.

There's no advanced stats Bible or accepted rubric right now though. Like many regression models or theories, they're just that. Not that I believe the Knicks really have the management in place to implement advanced stats effectively but...the cameras last season and this is a step in the right direction.

I dont see how you can implement them with the current roster. They're a jumpshooting team. They take more long two's than anyone.

Looking at what should be the 12-man roster, Woodson's gonna have a lot of options to move around this season, especially in the backcourt. It's gonna be a challenge for him to find the right mix. I hate that we still don't have a legitimate backup center too. I think Bargnani's gonna end up being more of the SF with Carmelo going back to being more of the PF, as well.

Maybe their goal isn't efficiency, like say a Hollinger.

Maybe their goal is scoring as many points as possible ala Don Nelson, or taking as many shots as possible ala George Karl or Roy Williams, or something else. Anyalytics aren't always used for the with same analytical goal in mind. They may just be trying to come up with a forumula, given their current roster, that will give them the best chance to win, regardless of efficiency, since THEORETICALLY you don't necessarily have to be efficient to win if you are good enough in one or two aspects...

Not saying that it would even work, or even that it's a good idea.... Just saying :yeshrug:

Shump Sat Out Of Practice With A Sore Shoulder, Doesnt Seem To Be A Big Deal Though

:what: I understand him coming from practice but... Not even a Hair Pick is available in the locker room before media interviews?

When is the last time he's been seen with his Flat Top fully picked. lol

That's my defensive specialist though... :to:

In Tyson Chandler's own words, he got his "ass kicked" at both ends of the floor by Indiana's Roy Hibbert throughout the Knicks' six-game playoff elimination last spring against the Pacers.

If that doesn't motivate an All-Star player to improve his overall game – even one that was less than 100 percent healthy at the time -- nothing will.

"Obviously, I wasn't close to myself, but I can't even look at that. I have to look at it as motivation where I got my ass kicked, and next time I'm not going to let that happen," Chandler said after practice Friday in Greenburgh. "Honestly, my motivation this summer was the playoff exit. I vowed to myself that I would never let that happen again. I would never let my team down and be in that situation again. That's what I've been thriving off of. I will never allow that to happen. That's been my motivation.
