I think there is truth to this game not being as complex as SF4 mechanically. There's definitely been some streamlining. I could even understanding people finding the focus on fundamentals over flashing combos boring. I love it though, they just need to tighten up that input delay.

But yeah, not directing this at Manny cus I dont know how good he is nor how far he wants to take his game, but it's funny to me when people say there's not much depth to the game as if they got it all figured out. It's like, unless you're already bodying Platinum rank players and placing top 32 at major tournaments, you are not close to having mastered this game.

Duke only just got the game like 3 days ago. He has a long road to travel. I'm willing to bet he got worked is all after seeing that IV's tactics don't translate over here outright.

Yeah, you're right, there is definitely a more streamlined approach and more focus on fundamentals here than IV and it's all the better for it. Also, there's still plenty of nice, flashy combos, just not too many overly long ones and most don't require extreme timing and dexterity than some fighting games do, SF past games included and that too, is all for the better in reality.

Agreed. And even then, the combos and inputs aren't THAT easy still. Sako, one of the japanese fighting game gods KNOWN for his execution, was dropping stuff at Evo. Dropped instant air legs with Chun bunch of times and it actually cost him some matches. In general I've seen many top Chun players at CEO or Evo drop her bread and butter combo (the cr.lp -> st.mp -> cr. mk xx Spinning Bird Kick). You know, the one they've pulled off like 10,000 times already. Sure it's nerves at a competition too, but the inputs still clearly require timing and dexterity.

Right. The timing is a lil more forgiving, but it's not like every move and combo is nothing but magic series button presses and whatnot.

Funny thing about Chun, and all these cats (even here :jawalrus:) used to big up how "overpowered" she is, yet you don't hear many, if anyone winning tourneys with her.

And they still do. She's got all the answers to every situation, except the answer to winning a major tourney apparently :mjpls:

Couple reasons I think she hasnt won yet, based on what I've seen.

1) The players. Sako, Nuki, MOV, Go1 are all amazing players, but maybe they're not quite Infiltration, Fuudo, Tokido level. (I think Nuki is personally)

2) Her neutral game is crazy but this game is about burst damage from combos. She isn't going to take 40% of your health off in one combo like Ken, Necalli, Ryu, Karin and Nash will. And she has a hard time dealing with fireballs.

3) It looks like high level Nash totally shuts high level Chun down. If you look at CEO and EVO results, so many Chuns getting taken out by Nashes in top 16s or top 8s. To the point that the match is definitely at least 6-4 in Nash favor. So basically her weakest matchup in the game is to the most dominant character in tournaments. Not a good look lol.

A character doesn't need to win a major to be top tier. Evil Ryu was the best in ultra 4 but didn't win everything.

Being top tier is more about the character being used to maximum potential not winning.

Oh I know. I was saying Chun was more than solid since the betas when cats was sleeping calling her boring. The point I was making wasn't about her tier status, just whether or not if she is overpowered, which she most certainly isn't.
