i'm a mortal kombat 1 - 3 guy, but street fighter 2 might be the GOAT 2D fighting game.

This is a hard decision for me.

I played both of SF2 and MK 1 and 2 on the SNES as my introduction to videogames (except Super Mario World was my first game). My adolescent self would choose Mortal Kombat because of the gore but as I grew up I appreciated Street Fighter more.

I remember my mom being concerned because I would draw scenes of "Fatalities" from Mortal Kombat. She though something was wrong with me.
