If he was poor people would complain, he's rich, people complain. No matter who speaks black empowerment, someone will complain. People are looking for the perfect messenger and it doesn't exist. Jay doesn't have the personality to be like Colin. That's Colin's lane and he does it well. Jay is active in media, and owns media companies and is creating media to highlight the black struggle i.e. Kalief Browder's doc and the new one he's working on. (I forget what it is right now.) I read an article about him quietly taking care of the families of black men killed by police. I know he sent Sean Bell's kids to college. Jay has been doing his thing, he just does it his way. His career has been an indication that nobody's gonna bully him into a position he doesn't want to be in.im very happy he went this route with the album........ but you cant get rich off selling drugs and then rapping about selling drugs and then wait till your worth 800 Million before you now half turn conscious and expect people not to be suspicious though.
Its seems somehow not genuine. something about jay always seems non genuine, like this is all just a money grab because BLM and LGBT is trending right now. guy is viewed as a scam artist sometimes and i see why. Some ill lines though but If he really means this then he'll follow it up with actions that actually matter on a political level , i wanna see stuff like what Colin Kapernick did, him actually putting himself all the way out there for the people and the message he now seems to care about so deeply. For now i remain skeptical about his ''change''
This is just jay being jay making that money.
One paragraph in the back of the NY Times. 2008.
Rapper Creates Trust for Sean Bell’s Children
His black empowerment vibe isn't a new thing just because he's more blatant about it now.
Just because you don't know about it doesn't mean Jay Z isn't ultra conscious and charitable
