alright i've heard enough lol...let's be honest here for a second.. $2000 is not changing my life, can make that trading and it's not changing @dora_da_destroyer life either.

the point isn't about these one time checks, it's about the legislation being proposed moving forward that wants to keep these thresholds - student debt, these child payments/credits they're debating, and anything else they think of.

student loan interest deduction which is a form of student loan forgiveness has the same type of phase out

Yes it’s bullshyt but no one is claiming they’re going to withhold there vote because they make too money to qualify for student loan interest deduction

and to sheff's defense, like i posted to e brooks, the issue isn't just these checks, it's the fact that now that has become the threshold for a whole slew of proposed middle class programs/relief. it was a low cap off top and should not be the basis of proposed legislation going forward. aid literally keeps passing by the upper middle income - trump's tax cuts for the rich and reduction of the SALT tax cap (more tax burden) only to then have dems come in and also cut them out...

I agree the increases in unemployment is targeted relief

The checks aren't a waste its to stimulate the economy hence why its called stimulus. I don't get why people are for thresholds for folks getting the 1.4k checks. Just send them out for everybody. We waste trillions in wars in the mideast with nothing to show for it, we have given billionaires and multi millionaires hundreds of billions in tax cuts but all they ever do with it is stock buy backs to increase their wealth and inflate the asset bubble in the stock market. But when its anything to help the middle class it becomes a major problem. And people in this country is brainwashed to think that aid to the middle class is a bad thing. This is why this country ain't shyt and going nowhere. Unfettered capitalism has become this country's drug and its addicted to it.

I will say again, the thresholds are a terrible idea and there should be none. Everyone should get a check, even Elon Musky.

They can't pull that "finishing the job with the $1400" shyt if they're 'targeting' the checks. There would naturally be people who got the $600 who don't get the $1400.

I understood the $600 + $1400 = $2000 but they really need to make it the full 2K considering how much time it will take for this to even get passed.

This is an issue AOC and the squad could force the vote on instead of that pointless M4A debate. They know no ReQlicans are going to vote for this package regardless, and there are such narrow majorities in both chambers of congress that they need nearly every single Dem on board to pass it.

If AOC et. al went, "Up the checks to $2000 or we won't vote yes," they would theoretically have leverage because they could argue Dems will get wiped out in the midterms if it's only $1400.
