it’s called basic unemployment. Everybody could use extra income. the unemployed already were focused on when they got the extra 600 the first time, it’s time to help everybody. I would love to sit at home and get a check but I can’t.

you say that because that's the part most affecting you. hazard pay & safety standards for essential workers, safety nets for small business, mortgage relief - those all need to be addressed. a lot of people not drawing UI are also in dire straits.

i was a fan of the increased UI benefit because it was temporary and i knew that when it ran out (july), a lot of people wouldn't be back at work thus the extra income could float them longer. i'm still in support of them extending it, but let's not act like the unemployed aren't still getting regular state benefits.

they didnt abruptly lose their jobs, they lost them 4 months ago and have been getting paid on average 3800 a month since then. and they dont "have no income" now, they have the same state unemployment benefits we've had in place for decades. theres no need for fake narratives, we all know this is fukked up

and for the record, you're right. chuck and nancy clearly SHOULD meet with the repubs for a "just unemployment" bill, and leave the pork for a later date but they won't

no one in here wants to admit it, but democrats are failing this given the balance of power. if they care so badly about getting this money out to the people, then there's NO WAY they shouldnt be negotiating a just unemployment relief bill right now and leave all the bullshyt for later. what the fukk are they even spending two trillion dollars on; is anyone asking that?
