My point is the purpose of money is to enable everyone to self isolate in order to stop the spread of the disease, so not giving it to everyone kinda defeats the purpose.

I agree with your premise, but that's not even their premise. The self isolation has it's own set of proposed provision totally independent from this.


The stimulus by Trump has been proposed to offset employees income who lost such income due to their jobsites closing, but since it would be impossible to determine whom is affected now, they want to rush this payment out asap to everyone to essentially boost the economy.

If self isolation was the primary root for this stimulus, that wouldn't be too hard to accomplish, but it isn't and cannot be. Some business absolutely have to continue otherwise the country as we know it would literally die.

I agree that healthcare, housing, and education reform need to happen. I also think we need to implement either UBI or Baby Bonds. Originally I thought baby bonds was more realistic, but now that UBI is gaining traction I’m all for it.

It is the point. The economy will improve once the pandemic is over. Thats worth more than getting people to go shopping during a plague. Most businesses are closing anyways.
