Cgi in horror looks awful. There was nothing remotely even good about the horror aspect about this film. It was goofy looking and will age like dirt like all cgi in horror films.

From a horror perspective this shyt was almost terrible.

Cgi was fine. Ur just a picky ass nikka :manny:

Supernatural horror. I didn't feel like it was horror so in that aspect I agree he doesn't have the "eye" but I don't think it was supposed to be horror? The first one I felt was this one it was something different more "macabre" I guess.
It didn't feel like horror because it was so poorly and amateurishly done.

Between this and mama this director just doesn't know how to execute a scene in the genre. His over reliance on cgi ruins it. Practical effects look far better.

Someone with some real talent behind the camera could have made this a classic with all the other elements the film did well.

The entire aspect of preying on someone's fear and manifesting itself is ripe for someone to really go to town with.

This pennywise came off comical to me instead of menacing. The only scene he came off menacing was the sewer scene and that was based solely off the performance and the director allowing the material and actor to harness them.

The other scenes could have come out of boogeyman 3.

The fact they had pennywise run at the camera while obnoxious music plays like 4 times speaks volumes. It didn't work the first time and they just kept doing it over and over.

People actually saying this was better than get out :hhh:

Get out was better in every way.
I never said that. I said that I had more fun with it than Get Out. I actually agree with you somewhat on the horror parts. I don't like the 'Mama'-esque feel of some of the horror portions. He even had the same actor that played Mama play the hobo leper.

So yes many of the scares/horror portions were my least favorite parts of the movie, but everything else worked for me enough that I still really liked it overall.

I'm dying at @Dominic Brehetto going through a range of emotions and having a change of heart 80 min posting his first thoughts on the movie :laff:
Well I still stand by I liked everything else.

As a coming of age movie it's pretty good. Not amazing or anything, but pretty good. It was funny, heart warming and emotional.

But just the more I think about everything else the more :francis: I get.

I was hyped as fukk off that Georgie scene that leaked. I really thought I was going to see something special. Turns out that was the best scene in the film and all his other appearances were cheap cgi schlock :scust: it a film called IT,it was wack. And they had a great look and a actor that looked like he could have delivered something special. But instead he just runs at the camera and shakes his head or peaks around a corner. :beli:

I'm getting more frustrated the more I think about what could have been. :why:

I'm with @Dominic Brehetto, as I said in my first thoughts, the horror parts are actually the weakest parts of the movie, and when they work it is in spite of the direction, not because of it. Andy Muschietti will ride the wave of this success for a long time but I can guarantee you he will be exposed as a trash horror director in the first movie he makes after It Chapter Two.
