Went from 300 lbs to 237 lbs since March. Ive had the worst diet known to man for basicslly my whole life (never even ate a salad or vegetable until about 3 uears ago). Since 2011 I've been off and on trying to lose weight and bouncing between 300+ lbs to 250 lbs. I'd do right for a minute, lose a lil weight, and then backslide.
In March I was 300+ lbs with no health issues. After listening to Slim Thug talk about getting healthy, I decided to really be dedicated and I saw this challenge somewhere on Facebook. I finally got tired of how i looked and felt with bad eating habits and of playing Russian Roulette with my health. I just pigged out March 5th and went cold turkey the next day.
Before, even when I cut out fried foods I was still eating potatoes, bread & cereal. Well, I followed the above challenge and the pounds just started flying off. I'm talking like 5 lbs every 5 or 6 days before I even started doing daily cardio a month later.
Here's my last 5 years tracked with MyFitnessPal. I was so big I didn't even weight myself once I saw 298 lbs on a scale so please believe I was actually 300+ lbs easy in March.
Right now I'm at around 238-ish lbs. I actually got down to 235.9 lbs and broke my eating habits on purpose during vacation last week to see how my body would react and how much I would gain from "cheat meals." I didnt really gain but like a pound but it showed me that breads really are the main thing that stick to me and I really have to avoid it.
I halfway expected it but it still was weird that I really got no enjoyment from the fried foods and bread. Even though it taste great I could tell my body wasn't feeling it and I didn't get anywhere near the "high" that I might have normally got. I reeeealy have no desire for that stuff now.
I mainly just eat homemade smoothies (Im in the Krogers produce section faithfully), lite ceasar salads, chicken/salmon/steak with Mrs. Dash seasoning (little to no sauce) and nuts.
I promise all you gotta do is eat right and be active and the pounds gonna come off. Eating really is 90% of it. I dont call it being on a diet cust those don't last. Really has to be a lifestyle change. Im addicted now cus I feel great and now I'm wearing XL and M shirts. I aint worn that since HS.
The good problem I have is I cant really buy clothes at the moment since Im steady losing. My 2XL's got me looking like Dem Franchize Boys and that's a no go.
I'm tryna get my shyt together.
Your story, especially the beginning about the bad diet, is pretty much mine.
I'm about 260 now, 6'4'' but in terrible shape and wanna start daily cardio. What do you suggest in terms of exercise and length should I be starting off at?
For example 45 mins treadmill @ what speed incline? Stairmaster lol? Elliptical?
Any advice from you or any other breh(ettes) would help. Tryna make this post to force myself to start instead of bullshyttin' myself.
