Well yeah you're right, most Azoreans don't live a healthy lifestyle just like Americans. You've got some outliers that put the work in though. There's an air base in terceira. USAF been here since the 40s I believe. I'm here until early next year.
TBH i never even been there, just used to live in a CV/Azorean area a few years back.

good to see you keepin up a good routine bruh :salute: enjoy the islands and work on that portuguese :lolbron:

Well I've been in the gym since my late teens/early twenties. I'm 30 now. Haven't always been consistent so I went through periods where I let myself go and had to get myself back together. What you see now is a result of me training like an animal since late March.
that's probably how I'll look at 30. Tbh......

:salute:

I'm tryna get my shyt together.

Your story, especially the beginning about the bad diet, is pretty much mine.

I'm about 260 now, 6'4'' but in terrible shape and wanna start daily cardio. What do you suggest in terms of exercise and length should I be starting off at?

For example 45 mins treadmill @ what speed incline? Stairmaster lol? Elliptical?

Any advice from you or any other breh(ettes) would help. Tryna make this post to force myself to start instead of bullshyttin' myself. :russ:
  1. You aren't training to play Arsenal on the weekend, for the Olympics or Mr. Olympia so you do not need to train like someone who does.
  2. Any daily cardio or aerobic exercise is good because it is the calories you need to burn. So, whether you do HIIT for 21 minutes or steady state cardio for 45mins-1hr then that is all you need to worry about his how much calories you are expending in the day.

This website HERE will help you to set a goals for yourself and how long it would take to reach if you stick to the diet plan (based on calories).

How Many Calories Should I Eat to Lose Weight?

Men and women shouldn't consume less than 1500 calories a day to meet your nutritional goals. Obviously everyone is different so I have 1700 -- maybe just over or a little less but I stay around 1700kcals. Don't go on crash diets or fasting for longer periods than 24 hours at most once a month or every few months because it's not healthy.

:deadmanny: When I'm cutting lol i consume that much it's not for maintenance and I don't bulk just always trying to maintain makes me feel better emotionally.

:beli:That was strictly to lose weight. The desk job I have doesn't make me a very active person so if I eat more than 2500-3000 calories I will gain weight.

I maintain at around 2200-2500:ehh:.

:ufdup:I just told you I maintain at around 2200-2400. I can meet my goals with that much calories. I'm not training to be an athlete, I'm exercising for good all around health.

So do what's best for you. :hubie:

Also, it depends on what you're eating too. Eat a lot of acidic fruits and fibrous vegetables and it will kill your appetite for more so eating around 1700 calories is easy.

Morning: Porridge oats

Lunch: Fruits + some meal heavy in meat

Dinner: High protein and fibre with enough fat to keep me solid.

Late Night Snizzack: Sandwich with alot of fat cheese, beef, fish you name it all mixed together like a mini pizza I toasted on a bagel in the oven :banderas:.

1700 calories isn't hard, you've just got to be in tune with your body to know what works for you:yeshrug:.

Im 5'7 130 pounds and im trying not to be a twig anymore. Please help

If it matters im vegan
Consume enough protein. The calculation is 0.55 multiplied by your ideal weight in total so whether you are trying to maintain or cut for example then 200lbs you'd need to consume 110g of protein.

I personally consume between 70g-90g most days and feel that my gains aren't lacking.

But, don't forget that there are ONLY truly four ways to stimulate those gainz, mayne!...

Elliott brakes it down so nice. This is what the gym instructors can't explain simply. It's not breh science just logical facts without the BS and fad workouts just skraight up what it takes to achieve gainz... ALL KINDA GAINZ!

Appreciate it breh. Let me holler at you about rest day tho. Im about to start up in a wushu class again where the set up is something like this. Monday Yoga, kicks, taichi movement thursday calisthenics, kicks, qi gong. Saturday is everything we did the previous days plus some variation of either core exercises or sets where we hit the pull up bars and pushups. My thing is im more into running and im trying to figure out if I should get it on the same day, fall back off it completely and save my energy, or just do it on the off days.

Well, wushu involves alternative forms of cardio and calisthenic exercises so I personally wouldn't do cardio on top of that unless you intend to burn more calories. I know you're not thinking HIIT cardio as that maybe overtraining a little bit but there's nothing wrong with 20-30 minutes of steady state cardio 2-5 times a week.

The main thing is staying on top of how many calories you consume so that you fit your goals and you don't burn out. Especially if you plan to do extra cardio as you *will need the extra fuel to compensate.

So, look at whether you want to maintain, gain weight or lose weight you will need to look at your calories consumed vs how much you will expend on average doing martial arts and common exercises like weight training or cardio combined for the week.

Don't forget it's just calories in vs calories out. Nothing more nothing less, you'll just need to focus on your diet which is 80% of task as opposed to any form of exercise.

Good luck, breh.

Essentially, it all boils down to how active you are on a daily basis.

If you do martial arts and cardio (in your case) then you'd need to consume a little more to replace your glycogen stores so that you don't fall off the bandwagon and become :flabbynsick:.

But, the main thing is diet and how you consume it. Some say to do intermittent fasting, some say eat 1 big meal others say eat 6-7 small meals (like a fxcking squirrel:why::mjgrin::scust::russ:) to meet your macronutrients.

Do what works for you. I have two massive meals and a very small calorie snack which is usually just leftovers from one of my previous two big meals right before I go to sleep. I do this style of Intermittent fasting for one to save money, but so that I don't go and cook or buy more bullshxt. I skip breakfast and have lunch whenever I feel like usually late in the morning and dinner a few hours later. But, I don't necessarily think to eat in a specific timed window I eat like a normal person whenever so that's when I get hungry there's no plan otherwise the lifestyle choice will get boring quick and you'll fall off again. I for one think intermittent fasting is good as it helps you to maintain since you are not always thinking about food and your body has time to fully detoxify/excrete.

This is what I used to plan my diet for the week:
How Many Calories Should I Eat to Lose Weight?

What I do to not go insane and binge eat is that I have three days in the week, (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday) where I cycle eating more calories out of the week. You don't have to eat the same amount each day it just has to balance out at the end of the week especially if you're exercising this should be no problem.
