This is sad. Barely any posts in here. Where's the hype? Ain't this coming out in like nine months? Did y'all bail on this completely?
The last Jedi was one of the worst movies I ever saw. They basically killed the franchise. If they don't want to loose the billions they paid for it, they need to go on a ten to twenty years hiatus until people forget about this abomination and then get the guy who currently runs marvel to properly reboot this shyt. Otherwise, their movies are going to flop.

The last Jedi is probably the worst Star movie of them all. Much worse than solo and episode I and II even. That shyt was :trash:

I thought force awakens was worse. They both suck.
Nah, Force Awakens played it safe by basically being a new hope 1.5. but it was overall a competent ok movie. TLJ was a complete trainwreck.

I recently saw a documentary about the James Bond series, where one of the producers said that with each project there is the danger of killing the franchise. "Nobody wants to be the one who killed the franchise". Well, Rian Johnson is that guy - he singlehandedly killed the franchise.

Question to anyone involve with film making

Does the director have complete dictator control of writing and making the film? Where does Disney or Lucas Film role in the film?

The script for The Last Jedi should have never been more than just a rough draft. Disney or Lucas Film should had:camby:upon reading the script. How much clout does the director have?

The director was on board with Kathleen Kennedy who oversaw the entire project...:beli: Her feminist bullshyt anyone can see was seeping into the last jedi with the Rey shyt, the general holdo shyt, it just felt like you could feel someone's fingers in the script not just Rian Johnson's...:hhh: The director should work in tandem with the writer but some directors have WAY too much leeway when making scenes that are NOT in the script...:beli:

Meh, force awakens was about has dull as a star wars movie can get. I saw last Jedi and didn't like it but it had some better action. TFA playing it safe doesn't get a pass from me, it just goes to show they had no idea what they wanted to do with this new series. And now they're in a pickle.

I been off the Star Wars bandwagon for a minute but I watched TLJ on Netflix. Rainn Johnson not only made a bad movie he also displayed contempt for the super fan. Killing Snoke, not having Luke in an actual light saber fight and then there's one part that's so deliberately a fukk you to the fans it's funny; when Kylo asks Rey who her parent were and they are just nobodies who were drunks. Yo, he was straight giving two middle fingers to everyone who made up, listened to or cared about theories or the family lineage in this franchise. They so deserve not being hot anymore. :mjlol:

TLJ had better action? I can't think of any good scenes except Kylo Ren and Rey fighting the bodyguards.

TFA had the ship battle at the beginning, Finn fighting the stormtrooper and Finn and Rey fighting Kylo Ren.

In most cases the director does not write the script, they just bring the script to life and recreate the script on camera. In this case Rian Johnson had both responsibilities.

They should've had him just direct and had some other person writing it

The hyperspeed attack made the OG trilogy pointless, as they could have just got a big ship and hyperspeeded it into the death star.

It even has the death star looking funny in the light, as they could have just hyperspeeded any one of those big star destroyer ships into whichever planet they wanted to destroy.

The whole shyt has been amateur from top to bottom.
