Nahhhh.

Only for people who didn't watch the original Roddenberry vision

That shyt was garbage

and it's funny because I loved some of his other works, like Fringe

I watched the original, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise... I liked the reboot for the alternate timeline twist and knowing that the vulcan's history has been altered, the klingons history has been altered, even Earth's history has been altered... even in the 3rd movie from beyond I don't ever recall seeing that enemy with the hive ships and the former human who was mutated into their leader... :ld:

I liked fringe too but it fell off towards the end...:ld:

But that destroys the continuity. All that wasn't necessary. Star Trek has been built up for over 50 years now. Why start over completely?

IDK fam... Star Trek movie's and the series has always played with the timeline and I guess they needed a serious jolt in the arm to reinvent the series.... :mindblown:

I mean in star trek voyager's last episode, older admiral janeway came from the future to bring the crew home earlier and fukk up the borg in the process...:heh: in star trek 4 the original crew hijacked a klingon bird of prey, travel back in time, steal from a govt protected nuclear sub, give a man who deals in plastic a future based super alloy that wasn't invented yet, steal two humpback whales and kidnap the marine biologist and bring her to the future to save earth from an alien probe that only communicates in whale song...:mjlol::deadrose:

Survival of the fittest
JJ Abrams ruined Star Trek and Star Wars simultaneously
As someone who never cared for Star Trek I say he's made some great Star Trek flicks:ehh:

And he did nothing to ruin Star Wars, that was all on Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy. All Force Awakens did was introduce new characters. Any competent director could have picked up and built on them without destroying everything else the saga established

While true they never did start from the beginning and reinvent the ENTIRE series of events. This goes back to the genesis. Now they gotta redo everything to keep correct. So something's not canon. Either the entire series and it's spin-offs, or the movie series. And keep in mind they still are planning on TV series that respect the original timeline. I just don't get the disparity. They could have easily done without it

IDK...I guess we'll work with two main timelines... instead of trying to fix it, which they can't i suspect the future tv series will be set in the alternate timeline...

Vulcan was destroyed... Future Spock's presence altered the timeline too much, Nero destroying the federation with future tech altered it too much... :manny:

I like the alternate reality because we have a bigger paradox to play with...

Soooo... now the mouse is talking about splitting Ep. IX into two parts. :krs:

Rumor: Disney Considering Splitting Episode IX Into Two Movies

All in all, then, it looks like Episode IX will be packed to the rafters. So, it’s not really a surprise that rumors point to it being the longest entry in the Star Wars franchise to date. A specific runtime isn’t being tossed around as yet, but – according to MovieWeb – it’s apparently sizable enough for Lucasfilm to be considering splitting the installment in two.
