Good movie they had to wrap up eight other movies and did a decent job. The big moments were well excuted.
The best acting of all the Star Wars movie.
The main cast had great chemistry.
I wish people would give up on Disney, I see a lot of "Disney should do this next" or "If Disney..."
Disney aint doing shyt excepting making more cookie cutter films to sell merchandise and theme park tickets. Low key these made these movies into an intergalactic Milan.
Rey is another disney princess story like the little mermaid if we are being honest here.
One off films like rouge one might get some burn, but its over. The only thing holding star wars right now is baby yoda, which was a hail mary move to keep fans invested.
We will never see an R rated Darth Vader movie hunting jedi or anything around KOTOR because its obvious disney is perfectly happy making shyt up as they go and could care less about the lore and history of the franchise.
Just take the L and keep it moving, its like GoT all over again.
Just finished it! Movie was garbage! I was actually rooting for the Emperor. Finn still lusting after Rey even though he had that fine as sister that was feeling him. The crowd applauded when my man Lando first showed up!
I was kind of hoping they would have killed off Chewbacca but .
Clone Wars is still canon. Rebels is canon. Not trying to pick a fight, but the way I see it, Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy gave zero craps about the existing canon, and as far as they’re concerned, only the movies matter.
The movie was peak JJ Abrams, for better or worse. Heavy on nostalgia that tows the line between genuinely sincere and shameless pandering. Fast paced plot that distracts your brain from a lot of things that don't really make sense if you spend too much time thinking about it. Quippy dialogue and a whole lot of McGuffins.
Having thought about it I think it's a solid, entertaining film on its own but a bad Star Wars film. The irony is it spends so much time trying to "correct" the Last Jedi while also setting up elements that are just as damaging if not moreso to the Star Wars lore than anything Rian Johnson came up with.
I'm sorry but I can't get over him bringing Palpatine back. It cheapens Vader's sacrifice and him fulfilling the prophecy as the chosen one. I may have been able to accept it more if there had been ample setup throughout the new trilogy or if JJ and Terrio had thought of a better explanation but they simply throw it at us and asked the audience not to question it too much. It was way too lazy of an approach to such a huge plot point that had major ramifications for the entire saga.
Also, it's abundantly clear now that this is how it went down.
The Force Awakens: This is my movie!
The Last Jedi: Fukk your movie JJ!
The Rise of Skywalker: Oh yeah? Well fukk your movie Rian!
And that's ultimately why the Disney trilogy failed imo. Two directors with different visions who couldn't put their egos aside and make something cohesive. One director should've made all three films
And that shows the weakness in leadership by KK. Her head needs to be on a chopping block.
How marvel works Fiege and his group lays out the plan and the director follows their plan. If there are tweeks the director runs it through Fiege. But the director and fiege are always on the same page with a laid out plan.
This star wars shyt looks like KK just tells the directors make sure Rey is the star of each movie and do whatever you want.
All wouldbe been forgiven if he did that imo. I truly wanted to see Rey join the darkside with Ren. Have Luke survive and have to deal with the mess his inactivity caused
he was too busy deconstructing the Skywalker 'myth' and turning him into a useless cranky old man even though he is the most powerful force in the known galaxy.
