IMHO Star Wars has simply run its course.

Like, the original movie was an homage to thirties film serials like Flash Gordon. It's already built on a foundation of unoriginality (note that I like the original trilogy). It's creatively limited by its very nature.

And now you're simply doing homages to homages to homages. And the homages get worse and worse, the same way a bootleg sounds shyttier and shyttier the more it's copied.

Star Wars hasn't run it's course, there's plenty of shyt they can put to film or tv. Thing is they tried to keep everything tied to the old trilogies when with how they wanted it to come off, they should have made a new trilogy that has some loose tie ins to the rest of the mythos. If The Last Jedi wasn't supposed to be a continuation of the Skywalker saga and was just a new plotline altogether I don't think ANYONE would have had a problem with it.

People are missing the point with the outrage these movies are getting, you can't try to use all the old source material and capitalize off the old characters, just to completely b*stardize everything that was established in 6 PREVIOUS MOVIES!!!

They killed Star wars quicker than George Lucas did
Give Disney credit for that
It took at least 20 years for George to erode all the good will he had from Empire and ROTJ with his special editions and deleted scenes
Did george really kill star wars thou :jbhmm: people can hate on the prequel movies all they want but he did gave star wars the clone war era that a lot of good stories came out of:ehh:

So I kind of missed the boat on Star Wars; the last movie came out when I was five years old, so my favorite movie—the one that really made an impact on me—as a kid was Ghostbusters. Thus, while I liked the trilogy, there was always this emotional distance, and by the time the prequels came out, I gave less of a shyt than I did when I was a little kid.

Anyway, in 1989 I saw Ghostbusters II; if I could point to one moment where my childhood ended, it was that day. I figured it was best to love the original, and to completely avoid trying to recapture the magic, recapture the wonder of childhood in re: sequels, video games, etc.

Even though GB2 was terrible, I was blessed in that it taught me this lesson in one fell swoop, rather than slowly fukking with my psyche and emotions the way SW does to some people.
