What's wrong with being gay? Not all gays are sissified, there are gay marines who would kick your ass and then eat it
Everything, and introducing homosexuality into star wars would be shoehorning politics into a series where it isnt need nor make sense. There are no homosexuals in a galaxy far far away so to add them would just be like i dunno friend, trying to appease demons when these same demons are going to see the film even if everyone is heterosexual. The devil created homosexuality friend and hes an earth bound entity.

Individuals of demonic descent are threatened by Finns presence as an individual of african descent and feel more comfortable with him being a homosexual to avoid being confronted with the anger they feel about interracial relationships

Its so demonic, friends.

In film, it's a non-masculine attribute.

Especially in this series, which has him growing close to the female lead. It immediately makes him a "safe nikka". Making Finn gay would *mostly* be about appeasing the "Boycott Star Wars" people. So not only was he basically a weak, jobber....but now he's also gay and basically will just be the "black gay best friend" for the rest of the series.

I really hope Boyega is weary of all of this and is fighting for his representation in this franchise.

The bottom line is that I've *never* seen so much of a movement towards making a character in a big, blockbuster franchise gay...until Finn showed up and showed some interested in Rey.

Never.

I've not seen this push towards the MCU. Not towards the DCU. Not towards Fast and Furious franchise. Never seen anyone begging Tom Cruise characters to be gay. Fox's X-Men universe has used every symbolic gesture to draw a parallel between Mutant rights and Gay/Black/Minority Rights without ever having shown an actual gay character and I've NEVER seen anyone calling for them to do so.

But all of a sudden, there is this massive push to force LF to make our first black hero gay? You mean to tell me people are just suddenly "ready for it"? Give me a break. This push is clearly about who FINN is and less about gay representation. Why is every media outlet suddenly writing articles about the two interactions that Finn and Poe had? The white dudes who wanted to "Boycott Star Wars" are now jumping on board to this idea because at least he won't be a sexual threat.

Saying "But it would be positive for gay representation" is fine, but that doesn't explain this public outcry for Finn and Poe when it's never existed for any other character before.

Also, it's valid to not want this character to be some double or triple minority. Like, we can't just have the ONE black character that is like other male heroes in nearly every form of media? Finn as a Black Hero can still be salvaged, but making him gay basically just makes him "PC Representation Man" and less of an actual character.

Plenty of white characters out there in blockbuster movies. Make Kylo gay if you want to be represented.Let our black hero just be *that guy* for once.

Lastly, for all this hoopla...the characters were never meant to be gay in the first place. Boyega has come out twice and said that they were just buddies. This whole thing started because Oscar Isaac made a joke on Ellen that he was "playing romance in the cockpit"...and people just jumped on it from there. You really want tumblr dictating this story?
Ian McKellen is gay as fukk and he was an xmens, being gay isn't always feminine You're just a homophobe who takes it that way

Dude it's not just about whether he'll be feminine or not.

I'm not saying that he's going to be walking around putting on make-up and wearing women's clothes.

It's about the contextual issue of the first black protagonist in the franchise having this massive push towards being gay because the audience couldn't bare the thought of him hooking up with his co-lead. It's about him being gay to satiate while male fears of him being hetero.

Why is Finn, all of a sudden, supposed to be some Gay Guinea Pig for this franchise?

And the actor being gay has nothing to do with the character. None of the Xmen, Marvel, DC, F&F, etc characters are gay and they aren't being pushed towards being homosexual. Finn immediately (Like, the day of release) got this giant push, and it's transparent as hell why.

You actually don't think there is any agenda in regards to this circus surrounding his sexuality?

Him being gay doesn't mean he'll be sissified.

Oh it does, especially in Entertainment and with him being a Black man/character :mjlol:

A gay male character in a Hollywood action film = physically weak, emotional and overly flamboyant (notice the traits I'm listing) and certainly no damn male action hero who are sold on being the complete opposite of all of that:mjlol:.

Just a further way to make the supporting character even more non-threatening to the leading male character and audience by extension or ensure there's no romance with the leading female character. Finn's already half-way there, he was a eunuch in the last film which is why there's even a discussion about this.

Magneto wasn't Gay in the films and on screen and was always cosying up to Mystique, a female character who's naked :rudy:

J.J. Abrams, the director behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, confirmed that there would be openly gay characters in future franchise installments, according to The Daily Beast.

During a pre-Oscars event at his Bad Robot HQ in Los Angeles, Abrams said said that he wants Star Wars to be a more inclusive universe, then referenced LGBTQ community.

"To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility," Abrams said. "So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say there wouldn't be a homosexual character in that world."

The Star Wars universe has recently introduced openly gay characters. Author Chuck Wendig found himself having to defend his decision to make the lead character in his Star Wars novel, Aftermath, a gay man.

Wendig's Aftermath, the first canonical novel in the Star Wars universe since the launch of the new franchise, followed Sinjir Rath Velus, an Imperial officer who turns his back on the Empire and joins the Rebellion after witnessing a particularly vicious battle.

Although Sinjir Rath Velus' sexuality isn't a big component of his character's story, Wendig thought it was important to include stories for people who may not have been able to see their own selves reflected in fiction.

Wendig received flack from some of the Star Wars community over the decision, to which he replied that they "weren't the Rebel Alliance" but in fact, the Empire.

Fans have also considered the possibility of other gay characters in the franchise. When The Force Awakens was released, one of the most popular fan-paired couples to come out of it was between Finn and Poe.

Fans have made it clear that they're more than open to the idea of having an openly gay character in the films. Now according to Abrams, it's just a matter of time until one officially appears.

Abrams' The Force Awakens is currently the second highest grossing movie of all time worldwide. The eighth installment, being directed by Rian Johnson, is due Dec. 15, 2017. http://www.polygon.com/2016/2/26/11122488/j-j-abrams-says-star-wars-will-get-an-openly-gay-character

J.J. Abrams: Gay Characters Coming to ‘Star Wars’
The director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens says you can expect to see future ‘Star Wars’ films be even more inclusive—including gay characters.

Two months and two billion box office dollars later, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has reaped huge returns for Disney with its most progressive episode yet. Now that Daisy Ridley’s Rey and John Boyega’s Finn have given the Star Wars franchise its first female Jedi and black lead, respectively, does its fearless director J.J. Abrams see a future for a gay character in the galaxy?

“Of course!” Abrams said Thursday night at his Bad Robot HQ, where he hosted the US-Ireland Alliance’s annual Oscar Wilde Awards ahead of Sunday’s Oscars, where The Force Awakens is nominated in five categories. “When I talk about inclusivity it’s not excluding gay characters. It’s about inclusivity. So of course.”

By Abrams’ logic, the sprawling Star Wars universe couldn’t possibly exist without a gay populace—even if we haven’t seen a single character identified as gay thus far. “I would love it,” he said. “To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility. So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say that there wouldn’t be a homosexual character in that world.”

Amid the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, Abrams has been vocal about the need for Hollywood to not just talk about but take action in the name of diversity.

“I think we all have a hell of a lot to do, and I think it is insane to me that we still have to have a conversation about inclusivity. It’s shameful,” he told The Daily Beast last month. “We all need to do better to represent this world. It’s something that is important to me, and is something that we’re focusing on at [production company] Bad Robot.

Maybe, as some hopeful Star Wars fans have theorized, The Force Awakens already introduced the franchise’s first gay character. Who wouldn’t ship Boyega’s Finn and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron?

Abrams, who also produced the upcoming 10 Cloverfield Lane, served as emcee for the night feting Sarah Greene, Room director Lenny Abrahamson, and late-night host James Corden, who later joined fellow honoree Snow Patrol in a musical performance. But he had special words for his Star Wars star Ridley, who landed the career-making role of plucky heroine Rey after an “insane search” because she “could believably and authentically be vulnerable, and tough, and beautiful, and relatable, confident, funny, terrified, heartsick, and physical.”

She can also be cheeky, dropping two adorable F-bombs in her acceptance speech with her dad in the audience. “I’m pretty new to this,” Ridley beamed, describing a pre-fame commercial shoot that demanded she cheerfully scarf down less than appetizing food, take after take: “The pork pie was really fukking grim.”

On the (Irish) green carpet, Abrams praised Ridley, sharing his delight at the fan following she’s built among both girls and boys. Optimistic, he said conversations about diversity and inclusiveness are happening more and more behind closed doors.

“It’s in private meetings, it’s in private phone calls, it’s in interviews,” he said. “I know that this will happen. I know it will. Not just on camera but behind the camera.” J.J. Abrams: Gay Characters Coming to ‘Star Wars’

Dude was already getting flexed on "Don't hold my hand!"...now they want to show him looking at Poe all gooey-eyed.

I'm sorry, I have a nephew that loves SW....and I just can't bare the thought of the character that was supposed to be HIS role-model...turning out to be into men. In this universe with all these other characters....they think it's okay to use the black character as a "test subject"? Sickening.

Like I've been saying. This isn't just some tiny twitter thing. TONS of people trying to essentially force Disney into doing this.

It's why...even after Boyega SHOT THE CRAP DOWN...people still had to pry him for a statement "in support" of this nonsense.

All because of that idiot Oscar Isaac trying to make a funny....:snoop:

I don't think it'll be Finn, prob an all new character or Poe/Kylo... but it'd be some sad shyt if they made Finn gay after spending the whole of ep 7 spelling it out to audiences that him and Rey were a romantic item in the making.

Even worse will be the gay-caping and homophobic accusations to detract from the sentiment that one of the few times we don't have an asexual black lead (shyt, just having a black lead period) in a big budget movie, they decide to make him gay so he's no longer the center of sexual interest for the all powerful galaxy saving white female lead that lil girls will be looking up to... :russ: (:mjpls:)

Thank god Black Panther is an established hero with a conventional set up (masculine, heroic, highly skilled, bags A1 females) with Ryan Coogler and Chadwick Boseman at the helm of things. Otherwise we'd be having people sayin "Captain America is already all those things.. we should have the first black super hero be a little... different :mjpls:"

gay men arent inherently physically weak or flamboyant. thats how they are portrayed in a lot of movies but it wont necessarily be that way in this one.

this is a disney movie, they arent going to be fukking on screen. itll have less of an impact than you think

I can already see there being a big backlash to Finn getting a female love interest if it happens :mjlol:

This is now a fire that should have been put out a long time ago, but was left to fan and has now got out out of control :snoop:
