But it'd be foolish to waste 30 years of material, some of which is really good. They don't need to make it cannon, just use some of the best ideas that have come out of the EU and implement them in the movies.

I willing to bet they saving the old cast for a SW day trailer... let it marinate for awhile see how the public reacts ... remember not everybody goes online to read spoilers so they saving the OT cast for a later trailer.
