I refuse to believe he died in that sarlacc pit. It would have been awesome in the trailer if it showed him rocketing out of that and escaping to freedom but the timeline wouldn't make sense.

From what I read its between 3 and 4 closer to 4... Its him and a crew stealing the plans for the Death Star for the Rebel Alliance.

According to Slash Film, the site's sources say the movie will see a group of bounty hunters trying to steal the plans for the first Death Star. The plans that, of course, eventually fell into the hands of Princess Leia and R2-D2, and led to Luke destroying that battle station.

This would set the film in the Episode IV: A New Hope era. And with previous rumors having suggested that Boba Fett may star in his own spin-off, one must wonder if this heist story also feature the famous bounty hunter.

According to Slash, the Millennium Falcon is "somehow involved" as well, though Han Solo is not.

Though the site acknowledges that no one at Disney or Lucasfilm would comment on this plotline, the website says "we think there is enough evidence" for the rumor to possibly hold some truth.
