This show would have been more acceptable in the kelvin timeline. Nothing wrong with action and adventure but I hate how people act like trek never had that which is not ture. They it didnt use that as a primary plot device like this show does imo. It tries to be modern and action oriented so badly they dont even act like star fleet officers most of the time. The captain left a civilian behind in the last episode lol. Show still has potential but I do think the are disrespectful to the original fans at times. Btw I thought episode 5 was decent.
Well I thought it was obvious that this captain and these situations are not normal in the star trek timeline or their fleet.

And if this show was supposedly BEFORE most star trek shyt then its not a surprise that thats how certain people and characters act.

I was actually in the navy bruh and the overall culture changed almost every 8 to 10 years or so. And all of that depended on the ships, commands, coasts, countries, certain events, etc...Especially during war.

In a time of war, back then, on THAT particular ship and under that particular Captain/Commander maybe thats how that shyt is going to work..

In fact, the show already MENTIONED how Captain Lorca is viewed by his peers, the discovery is being turned into a warship, and that Michael was the first mutineer EVER... So it's not normal Star Trek shyt

It's a different element to the entire series and its dope. Idk how people can't chill out and enjoy

But how you can say that? They at a war... A war the Klingons wanted.

War is a part of reality and apparently this ship is now a strategic WAR ship... Not a explore the universe ship.

Not gonna lie I wasn't feeling that Michael bytch at first especially for being insubordinate in front of the crew bit she was correct.

I like that there is less dialogue and political bullshyt so far and actually seeming like there is a real, serious "adventure" going on.

I expect everything to smoothen out to what you dudes expect is real "star trek" but in time. They started this season in a war and shyt like this happens in war.

I wouldn't know breh. :hubie:

I checked out after the 1st episode when like breh said, Sasha was acting way out of line to be in starfleet

Even in the new Trek movies where Kirk be wildin, he never ever attacked his commanding officer

Starfleet is military. It was just unrealistic to me. Sasha go in the ready room with the captain for disobeying orders and them comes back out without the captain telling everybody

:jawalrus: "let's do it my way now"

Even I said I didn't like that part and didn't like the insubordination IN FRONT of the crew...

But insubordination does happen.. Even assaults on commanding officers but thats just rare af.

This was just rare af and I can tell by the way everyone acted that it was rare. I guess because she was raised by Vulcans and still humans but who knows.

Either way it's still ok to be different and is under different times

I hear you but starfleet is technically not a military organization they are quasi military but more exploration and diplomacy. I really dont have a problem with you or anyone else enjoying the show but I am getting tired of some people basically telling longtime fans to turn there brains off. They have shown starfleet in a time of war before and anytime someone abandoned starfleet principles it was a deep moral dilemma just calling the ship a warship doesnt fit in the prime timeline they refused to even classify the defiant as that. I hear where you are coming from though hopefully they clean everything up as the show goes on we will see.

They have weapons, shields, etc., then technically they have capabilities to be in combat. Discovery being a warship now is strictly based off it's capability to teleport. It is their best chance against Klingon conflict.

So despite Discovery being a exploration ship and star fleet being a more explatory fleet, the show made this situation seem very unlikely and very rare.

They've made it known that Captain Lorca and Michael are outsiders compared to everyone else in mindset and action. It's just a different story

I understand this isn't the traditional ST series but they're at war. They can't be all lollygagging around in the holodeck like Data and Laforge. Data trying to figure humans out and Laforge trying to get some photon ass.

Remeber when Riker in an alternate universe begging to himself for help when the Borg was all up in Starfleet sphincter?

Well that desperation is being displayed in this series. They have Starfleet black ops in all kinds of fukkery trying to win.

I'd give it more time to see how this series settles. Hopefully they get another season.

I hear what you are saying but I feel you are insulting fans intelegence with these statements. The last three seasons of ds9 they where at war but it still felt like trek.
