Well I thought it was obvious that this captain and these situations are not normal in the star trek timeline or their fleet. This show would have been more acceptable in the kelvin timeline. Nothing wrong with action and adventure but I hate how people act like trek never had that which is not ture. They it didnt use that as a primary plot device like this show does imo. It tries to be modern and action oriented so badly they dont even act like star fleet officers most of the time. The captain left a civilian behind in the last episode lol. Show still has potential but I do think the are disrespectful to the original fans at times. Btw I thought episode 5 was decent.
And if this show was supposedly BEFORE most star trek shyt then its not a surprise that thats how certain people and characters act.
I was actually in the navy bruh and the overall culture changed almost every 8 to 10 years or so. And all of that depended on the ships, commands, coasts, countries, certain events, etc...Especially during war.
In a time of war, back then, on THAT particular ship and under that particular Captain/Commander maybe thats how that shyt is going to work..
In fact, the show already MENTIONED how Captain Lorca is viewed by his peers, the discovery is being turned into a warship, and that Michael was the first mutineer EVER... So it's not normal Star Trek shyt
It's a different element to the entire series and its dope. Idk how people can't chill out and enjoy
