If the makers are smart, never.
I tired buying the beta, or whatever they are calling it, and it was so expensive (like outrageously so, with different tiers and everything). I thought I'd wait for the actual release. That was like a year ago. I wonder if it'll ever come out

I own a decent ship. They give us elaborate breakdowns every couple weeks of what they've accomplished with reports from each department. The end of next year is the soonest I can imagine it launching but probably 2017. I'm not too worried, they are passionate and don't have corporate backers breathing down their necks like every other game. I'd rather a smooth, bug free launch than a broken mess like most games of this scope.
