Jay has some duds but BP2 isn't one of them. It reminds me of another forced double LP in Streets Disciple in that if I cut the fat there's still enough really good songs to make it a quality body of work.

I like BP2 and it was a commercial hit but we have to compare it to AEOM and LAD.
It is not standing up to those 2 at all. All 3 albums had bloat and unnecessary tracks but BP2 is solid last among the three.
to be honest i liked the filler on LAD :yeshrug: Another bytch and nasty are obviously p diddy influenced tracks for the ladies and radioplay
I never bothered with Streets Disciple. It felt like a dud from the jump.

If you say so...

But I know that I'd rather listen to 2nd Childhood 15 times than listen to the 15 songs on American Gangster:yeshrug:

Jay'z the best businessman in hip-hop, and part of being a businessman is selling trash like it's gold. Pretty much like Glengarry Glen Ross.

He successfully went door-to-door and convinced millions that his album was the best and they should invest in his discography, the same way a shady real estate agent goes door-to-door and convinces someone to buy a timeshare in the middle of a swamp.

I respect the hustle, but I've never felt Jay-Z to be much more than a guy who used to rap like Jaz-O who saw all the mafioso shyt going on post-OB4CL and built an empire aimed at the mainstream. He's great at tapping into people who still believe in the American Dream.

It goes to show you how many sheep we have in the Hip Hop community. Jay told you his debut is a classic, then...BOOM...Reasonable Doubt is a classic.

Jay told you that It Was Written was meh, then...BOOM...It Was Written was meh.

Jay told you that Nas makes 1 hot album every ten years, then...BOOM...Nas only makes 1 hot album every ten years.

Let's just keep it a buck ya'll: Jay has a litany of wack/mediocre albums. Yea, he's a dope MC but when you really think about it he has put out an awful lot of wack albums for a MC that is universally hailed as one of the best ever. Nas' disc resume is far better in quality. Jay made ya'll think otherwise
Has It Was Wriitem ever been seen as "meh" like that tho? Iv always seen it get love..I personally enjoy/listen to it more than Illmatic.
