Iron Man 3 took an incredible villain in The Mandarin and reduced him to a comedy character. Then they replaced him with another generic tech villain who was less interesting than the two tech villains that preceded him.

There were some issues with The Dark Knight Rises but the direction and the acting was still levels above Iron Man 3. Anne Hathaway was very good as was Hardy. There were still some truly epic scenes in The Dark Knight Rises. I would have to go with that even though it was a disappointment. The only thing saving Iron Man 3 from being one of the worst comic book movies to date was Downey Jr.'s one liners.

TDKR is like a 6.5/10

Iron Man 3 was like a 4/10

My feelings exactly....IM3 is one of my worst movie going experiences ever....TDKR a bit shytty, but it still shyts on IM3 IMO

TBH, all of the Iron Man movies are garbage. There wasnt nearly enough Iron Man in any of the 3 movies.

Hm guess I'm on the outside with this one..I really like Iron Man 3. Mostly for all of the reasons that people have said they hate it: I thought the twist was funny although I'll agree they replaced him with a terrible villain but Dark Knight Rises KINDA did the same thing. It pulled a twist and reduced it's imposing villain to a lackey of a much worse villain. I liked the fact that it was about Tony really figuring out who he is outside of that suit and getting away from being Iron Man. It felt different and just worked for me with the humor, the action, the dialogue, it was awesome to me. :yeshrug:

A lot of Iron Man 3 complaints can also be used against TDKR. You can't really complain about IM3 being more of a Tony Stark movie when TDKR features probably less than 15 minutes of Batman, and all he does is getting his ass whooped until Catwoman kills Bane in front of him with one of his weapons, which he allows, then goes on to cause a crash that kills Talia Al-Ghul, because Batman's no-killing rule means absolutely nothing here. This of course all happened after his broken back got fixed in a hole in the desert by letting an old man punch his spine while he has delusions of a dead Ra's Al-Ghul giving him new information to piece the entire plot together, only to finally get back to Gotham, oh, but without showing us how, because "fukk you!".

Sure, TDKR's highs are a lot higher than IM3's, but goddamn it if that movie isn't insulting in the way it expects us to suspend our disbelief at all the utter nonsense while simultaneously pretending to be a smart, mature comic book film.

I didn't literally mean make a thread for this. :snoop:

Let's just say I can't pick because both movies are equally :trash:to me.

Personally I think a person's investment in the entire trilogy can affect their enjoyment of the film.

Bamdwagoners who paid attention to TDKR because TDK was piff might not appreciate all the callbacks to BB. They might feel Bane got shafted in the Talia twist.

For me, viewing the three films as one giant saga similar to LOTR gave me a greater appreciation for it. Ra's Al Ghul's daughter coming back for revenge and bringing everything full circle was awesome to me (though she had a poorly acted death scene).

Bane was an awesome villain, but I think he did everything he needed to do by his death. He beat Batman and he cut Gotham off from the rest of the world. Batman came back stronger and beat him.

Bane's sendoff was great. "You know I have to kill you now. You'll just have to imagine the fire." Then out of nowhere he's shot down by Catwoman after another sick line.

I thought it worked well because it firmly established Catwoman as being on the side of good and allowed Bane to go out on a high note.

I'm curious to hear how all these detractors would've done a better job with Bane's defeat.

People are really taking this "TDKR is not as good as TDK, so it must be as trash as ____" approach and it's getting old.

TDKR is a damn good movie, Iron Man 3 is certified MIERDA

"TDKR" is a terrible movie totally independent of it being not as good as "TDK"....it following "TDK" just adds insult to injury.

The whole "send damn near every cop in the city underground" shyt alone is cringe worthy. Even moreso because this is supposed to be a "realistic" take on superheroes. That level of writing I'd expect from a Uwe Boll movie.

The writing and plot logic in "TDKR" is so abyssmal I refuse to believe the Nolans had anything to do with it.

honestly breh don't even worry about it cause you're probably in the majority. i was almost positive that when the credits rolled for tdkr that it would be met with silence and confusion but when it was over practically my whole theater applauded. not only that but both friends i went to see it with loved it too and they fukkin flamed the shyt out of me on the way home. it was as if everyone saw a different movie than i did.

tdkr to me is good and bad at the same time but at the end of the day i have more bad things to say about it than good. but because i am such a huge batman fan and because i have such a strong love for the character i still skim through it occasionally and watch it in spurts whenever it's on. but it is still a very tough sit and i imagine it will be a long, long time before i decide to watch it again from beginning to end.

I never took this trilogy to be a realistic view on superheroes.

Plenty of things in this trilogy are completely unrealistic. Darker? Yes. Deeper? Yes. Better than most superhero movies? Yes. But realistic? No.

To me, TDKR was thoroughly entertaining and far better than IM3. :yeshrug:

putting my fake stannery for marvel and disney aside briefly

there is no reason anyone should be voting for IM3, come on now lol. the "dark knight rises" hate on here is completely out of control, i will forever be :mindblown:

edit: the fact that TDKR is even in a poll with IM3 angers me!

Yeah, I'm probably blinded by fanboyism but I'm such a sucker for Shane Black dialogue that I'd take it over Nolan's heavy-handed exposition any day of the week.
:wow: this man does not fukk with christopher at all. first inception, now this

Yea, it was not on the same level as the first 2 in the trilogy, but to say IM3 is better is trolling. IM3 was a troll on the people and the comics...and for those that don't remember how corny it was....
