I swear y'all get in your feelings when someone doesn't like what you like and it compromises your reading comprehension:martin:

I don't mind his dolly shots or having the characters break the 4th wall if executed properly. Radio Raheem was talking directly to another character so it's framed from that character's pov. That's great execution.

My issue with this is the timing, when it occurred in the movie, and how it was edited. I didn't like the execution of having a man who's feeling stop to monologue. After the snake bite is one thing but not before it.

I’m glad spike mentioned how shytty our black soldiers were treated. I don’t think enough people talk about that today. How are you gonna send me to fight your war while you already got your foot on my neck?

some dude was saying how they told the white soldiers that when they got over there not to be surprised if the locals treated us like humans instead of slaves.

I wish they would’ve did more with that scene about them finding out about MLKs assassination.

I didnt like the initial meet up between them, and the falling helicopter looked kinda cheesy to me. I really don't even think i lasted 20 min

What didn't you like about the initial meet up?

Thinking upon it more, I probably would’ve replaced the entirety of the mine removal team subplot and focused more on fleshing out the Eddie and Melvin characters, who took a backseat to Paul and Otis. Like I mentioned before, I get why that subplot exists but that same energy and attention should’ve gone more towards the principal cast, whom the movie is built around. We learn more about Paul and Otis but it feels too little too late, an extra 10 minutes here or there devoted to both would’ve went further than giving David a love interest that never gets realized and adding a whole other group to our pre-existing one.

the movie was Spike Lee at his most Spike Lee :russ:

good flick but it has it's flaws...the first hour feels tedious but once the Bloods start looking for gold, things pick up a whole lot, but then the ending was predictable (called what happened between Norman & Paul before we ever got to the flashback) but I don't have a problem with that. Really my only real problem with the film is how all the other bloods were kept looking old while back in the War scenes

Its like they were re-living it in their minds, stormin didnt make it to their age so he is how they last remembered him:manny:. Well thats how i took it.

*edit

@Squirrel from Meteor Man 's point exactly

Yo this was not a well put together film :mjtf:

***Spoiler alert*

He couldve just started the movie right before they all met to explain the backstory... felt like he wanted to drop the characters right in the action but then he spends 30 minutes on context. The love story with that Thai hooker was corny. The way they found the gold was cliche as fukk. I knew someone would step on a landmine. Also, how is the sons love interest just walking around looking for landmines? :what:And he completely forgets about her and goes home to his wife?

Did he come to support his father or get in on the take? Film characters shouldnt have ambiguity in their actions

Why did dude jump on a landmine when there was no one in the vicinity.

. Overall, There were too many jarring storytelling elements. None of the other Bloods besides Paul were developed as characters. It was just Paul talking shyt the whole time. No group dynamic.
:heh: I don't like to nitpick people's arguments for little slip-ups and typos, but the nationalities of the people in this movie are so integral to the plot it makes me question your entire understanding of the movie.

I think the Son came on the trip hoping to get close to a father whose approval has eluded him his entire life, and his 'getting in on the take' is partly revenge for that mistreatment and emotional damage, and an attempt to win the respect of his father.

The grenade (not landmine) was close to Otis, and also it was an old military reflex.

I agree they should have spent more time on character development for the bloods even though I think Otis got some good character time.

I understood the movie quite clearly. Thai and hooker go together like peanut butter and jelly:yeshrug:
My mistake. Vietnamese
