I gotta get back in. I thought it was slow the first few episodes.

But when the wife confronted Nola things started picking up. And then I really got excited when her friend did the sting on the butt injections people.

Watching season 1 really reminded me how bad 2017 was lol.

Might check it out. Season one was barely watchable and seemed like Insecure: Brooklyn.

This show worked best as movie and I get that Spike wanted to put a budget behind this show just to “make up” for how low budget the movie was. But the movie itself was just ok and didn’t exactly age well.
Nah the movie was good imo and shot amazingly well considering they had a low budget at the time. It also is like a time capsule in a way for a whole different era of Brooklyn which I like about it.

It's the premise that's the only thing like wtf! to me.

What's supposed to be the take away?

THAT'S what this show reminds me of. I never could put my finger on "it" but that's exactly what this show is.
This show wishes it could be on the level of Insecure.

Breh, Insecure is not that great of a show. The music and whoever the cinematographer of the show is the real star of it. The dialogue is very cringe and the script seems like it’s written the day that it’s filmed. The lead characters in both of these shows are VERY similar to one another.

Issa and Nola are opposites breh. Yes, Issa went through a hoe phase and then realized that wasn't who she was.

One is insecure about who she is and the other is searching for an identity. Sounds familar because its been said before.

Issa balanced the perspectives from both the female and male side on there. The characters on the show are just a lot more relateable to me to boot. I found myself to be rooting for Lawrence whereas here I just don't give a damn about the male characters.

For all it’s flaws, Insecure has way better writing. There were consequences to all of Issa’s dumb decisions. She lost Lawrence, got demoted at work, ended up homeless. Her character experienced some growth. Nola never has to experience any of that. And there is no one on She’s gotta have it that had the character growth of Lawrence.

Interesting, Which one is which to you? Is Issa the one searching for an identity? :jbhmm:
